    The Fake Jaguar Thread

At one time I owned a 39 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup truck. This was in 1973. The old Chevy was not running well and all the lights were iffy. I came to the realization that all that old enameled wiring was loosing the cloth insulation. I ended up rewiring the whole truck from scratch. Not too...

    PJ's Irish Pub

Love that integrated gill equipped tank. That is one cool frame. Are those wheelie bars out back? Fork looks great. Though that basket can carry a lot it will have quite the centrifugal effect when turning your handlebars. Like to hear a ride report on this basket when bike is completed...

    Vintage brakes

Two and three years ago Central California was a hell hole with air quality that was horrible. We went through months of it as the forests in this lovely state burned down. Last year for whatever reason was no fires but very hot as were the two previous years. This year is a wonder. Huge...

Flat spot on rim. Fix or ??

Your fork looks like a forged fork so a sideways bend is not such a problem as long as it is a small bend. You should be able to bend it true and it will remain quite strong. If the headtube was bent or the legs bent back or forward I would be more leery of using it. Hollow tube forks can't...

    Nexus four gearing or swap??

Keep changing the rear sprocket to larger sprockets until you get the gear you want. If you run out of bigger options on the Nexus hub then start making the front sprocket smaller. If you have little experience wrenching on bicycles your choice of bike is a very easy design to work on. There...

    Freewheel remover?

As noted this remover slips out under pressure. the axle nut just needs to be just touching to break it loose. Then remove nut and spin the freewheel off. Holding the freewheel tool in a big solid vise is by far the best way. Next is a large 18" or larger crescent wrench.

I really like the lines of this idea. I'll keep watching this because it looks like it has lots of good possibilities. Your seat is great.

Excellent. Your board track king is just right and looks awesome. We have a bunch of guys here that put those 80cc two strokes on their bikes and shortly the bike is crabbing down the road because the power is bending the frame and forks.

Are you able to start this motor by pedaling then pushing your clutch engagement lever forward and thus spinning your motor. I noticed you had a very nice speed for your bike. Not too fast. Lots of fellows I know are trying to cheap substitute a motorcycle and gear their motor driven bikes to...

What a lovely job you did on this motorized bicycle. Paint job looks great. Loved the videos of it being started and ridden.

Two chrome Ross's (Reeses?) on Reddit

I saw a lot of these really early Ross MTB's in the early 80's. A lot of them were chromed and they were very good bikes for the era. Never saw that beautiful small chrome MTB before but it is really cool.

    Midriff-ter MTB...My home from May 1 - Aug 1...pg 15 !

About 7 years ago my brother talked me into doing the Downieville downhill which is 15 miles of downhill bliss, er rockgarden after rockgarden ad naseum. It has 5000' of drop. We rented the latest and greatest carbon full suspension MTB's and proceeded on the ride. I only fell off once, going...

A-Frame Garden Shed built from preused wood and pallets

I keep a wood storage area stocked with recycle wood. Pallets used to be made of maple, oak and pawlonia wood. Pawlonia is very light but quite strong. The only issue with pallets is the industrial nails they use to make them are very hard to get out. I love your shed. You did a great job...

    Almost scrap

Looking forward to your build. The springer fork can probably be bent true again.

    "Road to My Horizon"

Love Chicago Schwinn's. These frames and forks are bulletproof and their quality control was excellent. I've had nothing but success with Schwinn Varsity make overs and I believe this Camelback will be just as successful.

Addiction seems such a harsh word. As long as you don't count how many bikes I own or how much I have spent on them over a lifetime I would say I have a fondness for bicycles. Looking forward to your ideas Pondo.

Post War Fiets Cross, Velo Cross, Gravel Pit/Bomb Crater Cross Tribute.

That bicycle is seriously cool with front and back suspension and a great suspended seat. Now a lot of what is called MTB is really some form of downhill racing heritage stuff. Downhill was always different from cross country, over hill over dale type of MTB racing. Downhill got full...

Post War Fiets Cross, Velo Cross, Gravel Pit/Bomb Crater Cross Tribute.

Great history, nothing is ever new but just a rehash of the past. When MTB started almost all bikes were non suspended but like the previous off roading of the Europeans we soon had front suspension forks. Just makes sense.

Al Jaffee Mad Magazines cartoon maestro dies at 102

Loved MAD back in the 60's when I was an impressionable teenager and MAD was far and away the best magazine out their. I loved the magazines totally creative and irrepressible approach to everything. Sorry to hear about Mr. Jaffee's demise and I miss those wonderful 60's MAD's.

New member, saved an Uncle Stretch from a scrap pile...

Really good lines on this frame. Uncle Stretch did it right. Your build is great. Good to see such a nice frame and fork put back to work in a beautiful way.
