    how old were you?

My father was a great man but had very little mechanical skills when it came to bikes (anything with wheels), so I learned by trial and error as well as from the older kids. My first customization started at four years old when I put a set of Exxon/Esso/Mobil Tiger Grips on my brand new 24"...

Is this engine board track material?? Yay or Nay

If you're thinking of running it on the street, unless the cops in your area are blind and deaf, you're gonna get tickets left and right. That engine is no way legal as a motorized bicycle. You'll have to license it as a motorcycle. But if you're just building it to build it, then consider it's...

    Questions about 24" x 4.0" and 24" x 2.5"

The 3 speed is a good choice for the Firebike frame. Sam builds a heck of a frame but be warned, them suckers are a little heavier then most other custom frames. I've ridden single speed Firebikes and they'll kill you on a long ride. The 3 will roll the bike very nicely. Also the bigger the tire...

so what else do you collect ?

Yeah I got a few diecast. Above and beyond the normal sized Hotwheels, I've got a couple from back in the early 70s that were something like 1/24th scale called GranToros or something like that. Got some of the first Johnny Lightnings, not repops from Polar Lights. Got a few of the repops along...

    occ stingray fork question

You can't just slide them up and clamp them down, they have to be modified to be shortened. I would look around for a Jesse James chopper. I believe those fork can slide up into the triple trees like you want. There are also several mountain bikes that use this style of fork. Good Luck

    My First Custom

Good looking bike. You definitely dropped some coins on that gooseneck! I've always wanted that neck! Great choice of tires. I'm seeing alot of black and green bikes and they all have a very menacing look while at the same time seem like a natural color choice. On a scale from one to...

There is also a vintage cruiser group in Toronto, I think they're called the Toronto Cruisers. Also I know there are several...

I bet the bike scene in your area isn't as lame as here.

O.k. guys, I got to chime in ... I've been watching this thread and pretty much new exactly where this would end up. The easiest way to get others to ride is to do these 7 things: 1. Get out and ride your bike as much as possible! Ride it into the township parks, the town squares, the local...

    Weld on a new steerer?

If you're gonna pay to have it done, then any welding/fab shop could do it. The prices will vary depending on the person and shop. You should be able to find a neighbor, friend or relative that's capable, but I would try to have them teach me how to do it, if I were you.. If you really can't...

Modern V brakes on a vintage frame

Awesome idea! I've never seen a set up like this, that I can remember. It looks as though you can even slide the brakes up and down to accomodate just about any size wheel that you choose! Very Cool THANKS!

    handlebar storage

If you wanna hang them, drill a hole thru one end (where the grip will cover) and put a small "s" hook in it or a zip tie. Then hang it from a hook of some sort. You could also bolt a board to the wall, a bench or a rack. Then put screw or bolts or even dowels into the board. Make them long...
