    Neat Old Pic

I miss the days when it was actually safe to ride a bike across town on the streets, and "across town" was about 2 miles. Just saying....

    Hand Cleaner

I like all the soap based ideas. Will that work to remove oil based paint?

    Hand Cleaner

I painted my BBQ grill today with some high-heat oil based paint. I got most of it on the grill, but some wound up on my hands. I went looking for something to clean off the paint spots. When I was a kid, about all we had was gasoline, and leaded at that. Surprised I'm still around ;). I...

Need a favor from someone with a 2013 Schwinn Heavy-Duti

Where I work there are a lot of bikes in use, and quite a number of them are Schwinn Heavy Duty. It's a big place and bikes are used to get around instead of walking. As you may imagine the people who ride bikes here care nothing about the bike, except to get from A to B. I happened to see...

    Front-Hub a la Issue

It's easier than this. You don't have to take the wheel off the bike. Turn the bike upside down. Loosen the outside axel nut (the one against the fork) until you can get an open end wrench on the jam nut. Hold the cone with your 15mm cone wrench and loosen the jam nut. Adjust the cone...

Ever had a CL sale like this?

LBS told me that the Blue R&R is for bikes that will encounter wet conditions. Gold is for likely dry riding. I have and use both without much thought about it.

CL was crazy busy yesterday (Sunday).

Exactly what I thought at the end of the day. I usually shoot for 1/2 of original price. Ended up with 3X what I paid for 'em, and they are gone......

CL was crazy busy yesterday (Sunday).

Really nice weather in DFWLand yesterday. Listed 5 bikes in 3 ads for sale. Text msgs came in fast and furious all afternoon. Was hard to keep up with it all. Sold 3 bikes, and 2 junker BMXs are spoken for next Sat. Best day I've ever had flipping bikes.

    Essential Bike Tools

Even the small Park Chain Breaker will let you (with some amount of experience) push the pin just inside the outer plate. You can then clean the chain, and reinstall the chain, pressing the pin back into the same link. I was taught this at an LBS. The link will usually be tight, but is easily...

    Spokes

I don't think so. Save at least one original spoke and nipple and take note of the lacing pattern.

    Essential Bike Tools

Park Cable Cutter Brass Hammer persuasion device. Nut Drivers for Brake Cable adjustment. Easier to snug up the nut than a box wrench. I use box wrench for final tightening.
