Not that kind of 29er UPDATE: faux tank

Re: Not that kind of 29er Very nice. I love the finish of the rims and the patina on the frame. Always good to see another Trail Blazer as well. I happen to have it's sister. The finish on this was all but gone so I took it in more of a retro-mod direction using 700C velocity blunts laced...

    Trail Blazer... Completed (almost)

Re: Trail Blazer... And so it begins (again) Thanks! :D I'm really happy with the way this one turned out. Not sure I'll do this again in the near future but I certainly learned a lot in the process. thanks again! Tim Here a couple of better images of details...

    Trail Blazer... Completed (almost)

Re: Trail Blazer... And so it begins (again) We're almost there. Just a few minor details to clean up. Couldn't resist taking a picture of the two siblings.

    Trail Blazer... Completed (almost)

Re: Trail Blazer... And so it begins (again) Thanks again everyone. As for the toolbox decal, I'm still on the fence. I've been kicking this one around in my head for awhile now. I ordered replacement decals with the more traditional "Flyer" motif outlined in grey to match the primary...

    Trail Blazer... Completed (almost)

Re: Trail Blazer... And so it begins (again) Thanks! Yeah, I've considered it (for a split second). To be honest, I'm too afraid that I'd screw it up to give it a shot. Although the burnt orange idea is a color I hadn't considered I was going to be boring and just do it in...

    Trail Blazer... Completed (almost)

A little more progress... Finally got the wheelset built. Rims are 36 hole Velocity Blunts (29er) with a rather crappy pinstriping job by yours truly. Hubset is a New departure Model D and WL in the rear and front respectively. My plan is to finish these off with a pair of creme colored...

    Trail Blazer... Completed (almost)

Re: Trail Blazer... And so it begins (again) Thanks again Aaron! I'll definitely be heading to the swap meet (much to my wife's agony  ). We have a few neighborhood Halloween parties to attend for the kids so I may end up just running through it quickly (if that's possible). I'll...

    Trail Blazer... Completed (almost)

Re: Trail Blazer... And so it begins (again) This is one of those weird things that I can't quite place what I don't like about it, I just don't. Makes fixing it difficult. However you bring up a couple of really good points. First that the Color is out of place. i agree with that and...

    Trail Blazer... Completed (almost)

Re: Trail Blazer... And so it begins (again) Yeah, I agree. I think it was a poor choice of fonts not to mention the text itself. The typical "Flyer" motif would've been a better choice. What style of fonts would you suggest? Since these are just diecut decals they'll be easy to replace...

    Trail Blazer... Completed (almost)

Re: Trail Blazer... And so it begins (again) Yeah, Sorry about that. I've been preoccupied with life in general, I guess. I'm still making progress, just muddling through some of the tedious stuff. Here's a quick rundown of some of the more recent progress. I bought a set of 36 hole...

Pre-war Elgin, a new project begins

Aaron, The Elgin looks great but.... Well.. Ok I've got to say it. Putting a child carrier on the merc is just plain wrong! There. I said it. don't hate me  Seriously though, Elgin looks great!

Love the CO plates from CO Springs. Have a few of those in my work space but mine are from a bit further north and begin with E's of A's.
