    rebuilding a mystery

Long time no update. Basically got the frame all sprayed and cleared, forks and seat stays are next. I need to get a new seat tube as it's .5 - 1mm too big, I also managed to reshaped the seat aswell. Scored a gold/brassy looking chain. The only real parts left are the cable and cable clamp...

    rebuilding a mystery

Bit of an update, I Have the frame primed, high filled. I sprayed a guide coat to find all the marks. Ran into a small problem with my filler, First batch set hard in about 2 mins (to much catalyst) and the second batch turned didn't set, even though I only reduced the catalyst a smidgen...

    rebuilding a mystery

Found a supplier who can supply me with raw brass spoke nipples with out any nickel, zink or chrome coating and I have 75 on their way. There was a little bit of a language barrier so I just hope they understood what I wanted. Also I'm hoping they are just brass, not a brass mix. Also started...

    rebuilding a mystery

came up with a rough mock up of paint just can't decide which direction to go with the forks. I'm also looking at pin striping the borders with gold.

    rebuilding a mystery

The rims and hubs arrived in the mail today, Just waiting on some brass washers before I lace it up. X-FDD front and X-RD5 at the back. If these were second hand I would polish the shells on the hubs but I don't want to void any warranty or guarentee's Anyone know where I might be able to...

    rebuilding a mystery

Hi guys and gals. after shelving my cruiser build for the moment (need time to incubate idea's) I've started a new project. I picked up this old lugged bike off ebay for cheap, I guess it's a tourer(not particularly upright or forward lent). originally had 26x1, 3/8" wheel sets which ill...

Let's see your Pashley Guv'nor style bikes!

I wish we could swap some of out british road/race frames we have here (aus) for some of the early American prewar style, or even some of the cruiser frames you guys are basically tripping over. Recently picked up a old 60's lugged frame bike, unknown brand but havent started the rebuild yet.

    Aluminum Winter: Full Tilt Sunset

Re: Aluminum Winter to keep the bright finish with out putting a clear over the top and changing the look of the raw polished metal you could try some of this stuff called shine seal or an equivelent product, basically puts an invisible layer over the surface that protects it from oxidizing.

"Red Rodster" - Never Done - New Pics 4/14

Re: Red Hot Roadster or Rojo'dster Not alot . 700c have a 622 bead diameter where as a 27'' has a 630. You can't mix and match the rims and tyres but your can certainly swap 700c wheel/tyres onto a 27" frame. The other thing to consider is brakes, if your running 700C in a 27" frame you need...

    Sturmey archer shifter questions

yeah, I'm referring to the ones to suit the new hubs, pretty sure they refer to them as a shifter arm. they have them listed in their catalogue (on their website) to suit cruisers. here the parts in question, they make a few different arms as well :?:

    Sturmey archer shifter questions

Hi guys. I did a bit of a search but cant seams to find my answers. So here goes. Are the new SA 3 speed shifters indexed the same as the old 3 speed shifters?. Any one ever used the the new "stick" style shifter?, how do they mount? I can see how the actual arm mounts to the indexed rotating...

New some ideas for a stick operated derailleur.

not a bad idea. I'm hoping some one has tried this and come up with a simple way of using a handle or stick straight off the derailleur of sorts rather than routing a cable to the handle bars.

New some ideas for a stick operated derailleur.

Hi guys and gals. I have a Sturmey archer rear hub with 2 dished sprockets(different sizes) on the rear. I was originally going to make a chain tensioner and just manually flop the chain from sprocket to sprocket (which means having to stop) But I want to be able to do it on the fly with out...

long time lurker, first time poster.

yes your did rear correct, I do plan on running 2 sprockets on the rear, the step/lip/flange sectionbn the sprocket locates on is way to big for any off the self sprocket. So much so Ill be using 2 sprockets and some washers between them and the circlip.

long time lurker, first time poster.

Update, I laced my Sturmey archer AB hub into the existing rear rim, sent it off to me trued(im hopeless at it). Atm I'm still piecing the last few bits together. I plan to run 2 dished sprockets on the rear as the depth of the sprocket mount allows for 2 sprockets. I will be using a 19 & 22...
