Of course I am going with the original rims .
Yesterday I resprayed the black spokes and touched up the rims...

I also re-spoked one of the new rims, as a tester. New force cheap hubs and black spokes.

And sprayed the rims. A little rattle can red.

Spent lacing and truing, they seem to be fine.
Could take them to my mates truing stand, but I find a zip tie on forks work just as good.
After a week or more a little tweaking may be in order.

I have 2 workshops up and running with tools at each... So I hop from one to the other, depending on weather. The car always has bike parts inside.
The fake green carpet is perfect for working on, and easy to drag in and out when needed.
I don't lose anything or scratch added bonus.
Next is spraying the rack.

So a little history on the UDX frame I am using.
The company Urban drivestyle out of Berlin, designs the Unimoke. A Moke vintage style e-bike.
They decided to make a BMX range a few years ago, starting at 1500euro, one with suspension, one without. Last year the company went bust... How this happened, beyond me, as the price for simple part is crazy. Headlight 190euro, A rack 250euro and so on. Highway robbery.
But lucky for me, a company I purchase parts from in Germany, must have purchased all the liquidated parts... And even better sells them at a decent price. So now you can order and build your own up...
The frame sells at 380euro...Oh they ship worldwide. I will do a parts price and site list soon.

The basic udx.

The suspension one.

Hey Funk, this is a cool platform. Looks like it could be a really fun ride. What size are the rims?
They are 20" by 100mm width, but I think most guys and what come with the bike are 80mm

Big day yesterday,
worked all day on the bike.
Started with spraying on of the racks a matt black

It came up okay.

Forgot to post the muddies up... Full fat.

The stand. Not sure if I will use this or another style, depends if I can mount this better and higher maybe.

Forks mounted on.
I used the headset cups/bearings from the original BB frame, perfect fit.

Where there is one, often there are 2...
344123488_1198338450802261_6232993587215472602_n.jpg

And I forgot one of the rules.

Uh ohhhh!, then there were a gang.

Disks and caps went on..

Part 3...
The fitting, and adjusting, muddies, stem, guard holders, and rack.
Then taking the front wheel off and placing a longer axle to be able to fit rack mounts... Trim down the guard stays and length on the bolts.

Holy Whitewalls Batman! You really 'got your groove back' ! Bringin' da Funk! Exclamation point city!

And for those that haven't done it, it is not easy to lace those wide, off set rims. These look perfect.

RaT oN~!

:21: Lucky that I have had 2 years collecting all this stuff , just been waiting around for me to build it. The hardest part was, not scratching the paint, and making sure I had the right spoke size. As the hub is a normal kiddie bmx size, not the wider ones. I'm sure a little tweaking will be needed, after a week of use.

Looking good Funk!
Thanks, just understood this is my first ever build in class 1. Oooops no 67racer was,but we did not have 2 classes back then,or did we?

Today being a Sunday, I fluffed about. Half in half out kind of way.
I started pulling the beast apart for the parts I need. Starting with the freewheel. Cleaned it up and screwed it on, also the spoke guard, decided to put one on.
IMG_20230507_122223.jpg

I spent most of the day setting the rear wheel up. These frames are designed to fit e-hubs so they are wider and run a thicker axle. So I drilled 2 small holes into the frame to hold the old hook washers, so that wheels won't drop out on me( I hope ๐Ÿ™„)
So I fiddled with different size washers etc. I don't want to have to much space/ length on the axle as I constantly bend them. So I might gently squash the bottom brackets in.
I also attached the rear brakes. Still need to be adjusted.
IMG_20230507_172938.jpg

I pulled the slats from this old bed. They will be used somewhere. Need to sand and varnish them.IMG_20230325_144432.jpgIMG_20230507_172928.jpg
I fiddled with other things, but need to order a part from China 6โ‚ฌ compared to ordering it from EU 50โ‚ฌ. Sorry prefer to wait then waste and be ripped off. Lucky I can modify the part I have,as a temporary thing.
Tomorrow my other parts are here at DHL. Then I can sort out other issues.

From 26" down to 20". If I can't sell this bike. I might turn it into a trail ripper ๐Ÿ˜

I've always referred to those as lawyer washers.
Well I never knew what to call them, safety washer, tag washer, tab washer, security washer.
I doubt these are going to do much, so I might design my own, a lock/safety washer. Will check today how I can go about that.

That looks awesome!
Will the bottom bracket be high enough? Hard to tell in that picture.
