Obviously I still have to work on placement and marrying it to the Elgin frame. But I really like this. When I found the above picture today, it pulled me in even more.

That fits your build to a T. Would you run it down low, or , I could def see it between the stays set back in the curve towards the drop out. Maybe you can mount the tank to the fork, behind the seat, or even under the seat.

Good idea bracing the post. I don't think the original mount would take that kind of leverage too kindly.
