Used some regular black cable housing for now. I want to try and get some braided metallic housing eventually.
I'll also come up with better cable clamps than my foil duct tape :D .

Cleaned up the allen set screws on the billet grips and installed them. Here are some pics of the shifter in place. She could almost be a rider now.

The guard will probably be one of the things I work on next, so I mocked it's placement and checked any clearance issues with the chain, cranks, and sprocket.

Got this missing piece of my frame from @ratrodz this morning. I might be able to take HEXtreme for a ride today.

What is its purpose? My initial thought was a seat clamp bolt.

One of the two missing screws near the seat stem/clamp?

These frame don't have a seat clamp, they use a quill stem seatpost.

There are two holes in the cast frame near the seat. The top one is just where a rack would attach to the frame.
The lower one doesn't clamp anything, but it is important to the cohesion of the frame. The seat tube slides through this cast section of the frame ad where that screw hole is the seat tube has a half round notch in it. This ... bolt fits into that notch and thus kinda locks the seat tube in place.

One problem with quill seatposts is that they stick out higher at the seatclamp.
With some saddles this isn't a problem but my checkerboard seat doesn't have a lot of clearance Clarence.
I had this problem with starsNbars. The seat pan bottoms out against the quill post bolt.

You can see where it has dented the seatpan.

The red leather saddle has plenty of clearance Clarence, so I switched over to it.
It was all ready to ride at this point.

Rode to one of my go to photo spots along the wall of the Noble-Hardee Mansion.

Then a guy pulls over on his bike ride and we start talking about HEXtreme. Turns out he is a long time lurker here on RRB. I forget his avatar name. It was great to meet him though. We hung around talking bikes for quite a while waiting for his bike buddy.

Got him to get a pick of me with the bike.

It's always cool to see someone else on your build, because you never really get to see how the geometry turned out otherwise.

Pretty cool meeting!
About the seat post - you could put a few spacers on the seat post so the seat clamps the post right under the bolt where you can still properly tighten the seat around the post. Unless I missed something. But I do realize that this would probably raise the seat a little.
That screw seems to work like the bolt lock I have on an stem extension that came on my first cruiser:

Even if I lowered the height of the seatpost relative to the seat clamp, there still isn't a great deal of clearance to the seatpan. Combine that with my weight and the weak seat springs and it would probably still bottom out.

The bolt locking would be similar, but a little different to from what I can see of your extender.

The bike handled beautifully!!!! I rode around for over 3 hours and never had to adjust anything. Shifted like a dream. I was afraid the clip on bars may flex a little, but not at all. They felt very solid, even when standing up in the pedals. Drivetrain was as smooth as butter. These tires provide a great deal of cushion to the ride, but this leather seat has perfect springs and shape for me. The ride geometry was great too. I don't know if I've had a maiden voyage as smooth as this one was.

Here are the first round of maiden ride pics.

Kept my eye open for American Flag photo ops with it being 4th of July weekend.
Found this flag painted on the wall of a business.

I had noticed this cool bike rack space in my car the other day and I knew I had to get some photos here.

Went by Bobbie's Diner and the overcast sky really made all of the aluminum pop.

I dug the color of this house and tested it as a backdrop.

And also swung by the Streamliner diner too.

Love it buddy! The red seat had my vote from the start, it looks perfect on there, subdued shade, doesn’t distract from all the aluminum goodness. Can’t wait to see it in person!

Ditto on the red seat. That chain guard looks great on there also.

Yeah, I'm liking this saddle. It looks great in the pics and is super comfy too.

Here is round two of the ride pics.

I'm used to seeing the UK flags on Six Pence Pub, but the American bunting caught my eye this time. Happy 4th!

Totally agree on the red seat! It fits well into the HEXtreme scheme, and fits the rider; what more can you ask?!

I really dig that photo with the painted flag on the wall. The lighting and coloring is just right!
