Next I worked on the chainstay cable guides with the P.A.D. and decided to try a long stilletto dart.

First pass was too fat of a dart, a fart so to speak.

So I shaved it down to a left cheek sneak.

I still have one of the vinyl book report binders that I used for the guard louvers on Flexy nine years ago in BO7. I could use it but I wanted a brighter red that I wanted since I won't be adding any lights behind this one. Scored this brighter one from Dollar Tree.

Mocked it up with my chrome tape.

Got the hardware last night. After bolting up, I matched up and dressed up the edges for mounting.

Mounted up the new pointy guides along with the braided housing. Obviously there is still some finish work to apply on the guides, but that will come later.

Removed the temporary tape on the louver insert. I thought of using adhesives or such to install the insert, but really feel that my chrome foil duct tape is best product. So I installed it with the least number of creases and really smoothed it out.

Dug the look, so I skinned the entire backside of the guard with it.

After looking at this pic, I may decide to forget about covering the frame blemish and lower the downtube cable guide so that the hardware is in line with the nose of the chainguard just to keep the flow of everything a little smoother.

Looking good!

Your chainguard has really developed into a superb piece of hardware. The red through the louvers and the red belt on the tire, Love it. I noticed the bolt holding the seat stay to the rear fork. If this stay comes loose from the rear fork then the possibility of belt drive rears its head. This is turning into a really cool bicycle.

Thanks very much. You are correct, there are a few of the Silver King models that bolt together in the rear which would allow you to be able to use a belt drive geartrain easily. I know of a few people that have done just that.

Expecting some of this for my build in the mail today. :D
