I would say: Go for it!

I probably will if I have time. This chainring has 5 of its section raised a little higher, but I have always felt there is not enough distinction between those and the relief section to give it that true mag wheel feel. Honeycomb in the relief section just might do that.

I plan to have these polished frame darts on the top tube and mid tube and also on the downtube.

Had to make run to HD today. Picked up these front wheel photo chock blocks.

Then I also got a couple of things to experiment with for securing the honeycomb. Here is the testing I had done at KingfishLabs.

It is very tedious and time consuming to make these. I'm guessing 2 hours to do the layout and then cut, and then straighten, and then bend the hex on these. This one was supposed to be for the mid tube, but then when I tried to fit it on it was loose. I had been test fitting it along the way on the top tube. Well it turns out the mid tube is smaller than the top!!!

Had to make another run to HD to get another sheet of aluminum. Hoping to make the midtube dart bracket tomorrow.

I know you do not like the reflecting part of it, but still... :39:
With thin plexi you could put the tabs inside the honeycomb and just run some book screws through the whole sandwich... ;)

Thanks man, but I am already "ALL IN" on the polished aluminum meat (with red scallops) in the middle with only honeycomb for bread.

I assume that you plan to thin out the tabs, so that they cover as few of the honeycomb as possible. Maybe in hexagonal shape?
(I would hate to see that much of the delicous "bread" covered as the tabs sit now)

Now that i know the front will be secure, time to test my idea on how to secure the tail end.

Temporarily taped up the tank.

And created this little doohickey which will attach to the meat section and wedge between both the top and mid hex tubes.

Yes

Works like a charm and holds it really well.

Switched over to the honeycomb mag sprocket. Cut out five rough blanks with the patterns alligning radially. I'll trim them up later.

As always, way ahead of us all...! :bigboss:
I like that smart little doohickey! Simple but very effective! :113:

I wouldn't say ahead, I just made these with a bunch of excess to give myself flexibility. :D
In reality, I possibly could have used doohickies like this for the whole tank, but then I wouldn't have cool polished darts. :D :D
