KF, I too dig the red lined Hanks. The gray tires are very cool, maybe on a flat black or primer red or gray painted frame. To quote a '70s term we used to say alot,
"You've got cool tires up the wazoo!" :21:

That reminds me of the old super bowl commercial.

Just so there's no mistake, these are common on English three-speeds. The oddball Schwinn size is ISO 597.

Thanks man, you are completely right about that.

Of course I’ll be contrary. I dig the 346 tires, especially with other touches the same tone, such as leather seat and leather grips. Subtle. That said, the way she sits is spectacular. Neck injuries from double takes inbound.

That’s a awesome bike, what a foundation to start with. I don’t know how I’m supposed to compete with that. And your shooting for 11th place ?!? Well good luck and I hope to see you in the winners circle when I pick up my participation award lol

I love these billet aluminum McFly wheels. The iron cross design is sweet. Most of these are usually single speed, but I have one of the rarer sets that were built with a Nexus7 rear hub. I definitely need to clean them up. They had bee collecting dust in the previous owners garage for a long time. I think they are gonna look great with this frame.

I admit, I like the 346 tires better too.

I like the 346 tires too, and if I was going for a classy SK build, I would definitely use them. There are plenty of beautiful examples of classy SK builds around, but that's just not what is in my head for HEXtreme. In my head, I have something more aggressive in mind. Plus, I honestly miss having a ride with the Hanks on it. I always loved them on Flexy.
I do like the stance of the mockup so far. The forks and wheels play better with the frame than I hoped for. Thanks for the input.

Wow, gotta love all of the activity going on so far. I was only 1 spot away from becoming a Page 2 Slacker!!!! :D

Since I didn't take my normal Christmas trip overseas, I now have maxxed out on my vac hours, so I have to use them or lose them every few weeks. Decided to take 3 days off this week. Went over across the bridge yesterday to SC to meet the awesome @Captain Awesome and do a little horse trading for the Retro Ryders headset that I need to run the 1 1/8 fork with my 1 headtube. It's always cool to meet up with RRBers and this headset was a lifesaver since the guy that makes them ran out a few weeks ago. CA lived up to his name,

So, I took some emery cloth and cleaned up the headtube to test fit the bearing cups. I just slid them in partway because I want to clean up the frame more before installing the headset.

If you remember, I was worried about the quill seatpost. The fact that the quill bolt head was cut off made me suspect that someone had already worked hard at freeing up the seatpost and had given up in a lost cause.

So for the past 5 days or so, I have been marinating inside and around the post with PB Blaster. First step today was to put a punch on the quill bolt and whack it with a hammer. The quill broke free pretty easily and slid down into the seattube.

Next I removed the wheels and fork and put the seatpost upside down in the vise. Then I start torqueing the frame back and forth until I could confirm that the seatpost wasn't moving with the frame. I then just kept pumping a little more PB Blaster from above in the BB and kept working the frame on the post until I was able to rotate the frame 360 degrees. After that it just took wiggling the frame back and forth while pulling up at the same time and eventually I shimmied the post right out. So relieved that it was MUCH easier than I anticipated. After that the quill and quill bolt came out easily.

Another thing I did on the frame today was remove the Monark bearing cups. If you any of you have followed my on the Billy Bueno Random Prize Drawings FB page, you will know that I sold a ton of killer machined aluminum parts from Lawless Bicycles over the past few months. Besides making money, I also did this so that the Lawless parts that I kept were free. :D You will see some of them as my build progresses. For now, here are the machined aluminum bearing cups for three piece cranks. They should fit well.

I also went and headed and cleaned up the mating surface of the BB with some emery cloth.

I removed the incorrect rear stays bolt and now plan to go hunt for the proper countersunk bolts.
It's cool how they bolted these two separate frame castings together. I thought of taking advantage of this and going with a Gates Carbon Belt Drive, but decided to stick with a more traditional drivetrain and purtier.

This is such a cool and unique frame, I decided to document its construction a little more before I start cleaning it up.

There are three cast pieces to this frame.

The headtube section

Then there are four hexagonal tubes that are joins to each of the castings.

And finally the same parts from the bottom (both sides). Just a cool bike assembly.

I don't think you would find them quite stiff enough for your applications, Hamppea...and not that light either .

There is a diamond frame Duralumin SilverKing... I've never seen a real one, just the ads. I'm sure it probably has some rigidity issues as well.

Yeah, I'd take it easy for sure.

Guessing 7 Lbs.

I have a guys and girls standard model (M-1?), nearly down to frames. If I get an opportunity this weekend I'll get a weight. I'm assuming that it will be a bit lighter than the hextube as the castings are less substantial and I'm sure the hex tubes have more meat on them.
