I really want to use Schwinn Aerovane tires that I finally scored last year. I actually like how beefy the wheelset is too. So I went to one of rental property stashes and pulled the wheelset.

Bike looks fantastic with the wheel tire combo. (With anyone of the forks) and those tires look so Hot Rod Zig Zag like 👊🏼

I was thinking of using a frame I picked up a while back to enter the build off as well. Probably need to focus limited resources on other projects this summer so interested in this. Had an X53 fork I couldn't resist trying out real quick with a couple things easy to pull from the pile. Wish I had a beehive springer laying around to try out. Looks cool! Love the Evan Action as well!(they look good on anything but fit that frame nicely. wow!)

Here's a few pics of my quick mock up when found. Perhaps you'll find use for them...... 🤷‍♂️

Gonna be fun to see what you come up with! Great surface to start with!:rockout:

Great looking Oriole brother! The X53 springer looks great on there.

I say you just build that up put some wheels and a seat a winner

Yup. Both look great. That X-53 fots that frame well too. Tough call, all dependent on the direction it leads. Keeping an eye on the action!

X53 springers are cool too. I actually used one on my Speed Demon Jet Flow build simply because I wanted it to be different than other Jet Flows (with Beehives).

Found another Bluebird ('38 I believe) that shares the downtube with the Oriole. This year doesn't have the sweeping seatstays that go beyond the axle that other Bluebirds do.

More Elgin sexiness

Don't forget the downtube (x3) on Bluebird's little sister the Skylark!

BTW, those fat tires you've got will tuck into some Mullet fenders quite nicely! :wink1:

Beautiful! I forgot that you used these tires on Blackbird. I remembered them on the Columbia (your 11:11 build) though.

I've loved these sexy curvy 1930s Elgin Orioles ever since @yeshoney did his amazing "Paint It Black" build back in BO7 in 2012. I scored this one back in 2016 and it's been in my stash ever since.

I really don't have any build plan yet, but it will come to me as I pull stash parts out and the build tells me what it wants to be. This will be my 14th Build Off in a row. It's always great to get back together with all of you this time of year.

My current placeholder name is Fooligan in homage to our lost brother karfer67 aka Adam Hooligan Copeland.

HAVE FUN AND BUILD A COOL BIKE!

One of my favorite bikes. i have just a frame with no parts stashed away in the garage somewhere waiting for parts to build. The only part i've bought for it waits in a cabinet. Can't wait to see you put your magic touch to this one.

Filed the front axle today.
Goid thing I prefer the beehive because the Evanaction fork bolt hits the tire.

Beehive fork slid right on. I believe there is good clearance to allow for fork compression.

Still have to work out the rear clearance. I slid the wheel back as far as I could in the drops and if the wheel was perfectly true it bareky cleared. But that was with less than 20psi. Once I pumped up the tires to 35psi the wheel wouldn't roll. These pics are with the tires pumped up.

I also couldn't resist breaking out some foil tape and seeing if my SRT badge would look good on the springer. Just in case I go the Savannah Rapid Transit route

Was really interested in seeing the beehive on this frame & subscribed to the build. Since the Oriole, beehive & X53 are made by Murray it make sense they all look good together. Really digging this so far & what better place to get ideas for when I get around to mine than following a Kingfish Build Off Bike.........? 🤷‍♂️

Would a narrower set of wheels squeeze the tires enough to clear the chain stays, or would that make enough of a difference?

That is one of the things I plan to try. These are chunky 41mm rims. There also appears to be enough tire height clearance since pinching them may increase the profile height.
