Pulled away some of the masking on the guard to visualize and think through the possibility of the Hot Wheels on it.
If I use it, I am pretty sure that I would paint the infill of the lettering red.
Also, in case you were wondering, I already checked to make sure the cranks had plenty of clearance.

Are you talking about the Savannah Transit Aurhority badge? Yes, it's authentic. Pretty sure it would have been a hat badge since it is curved

I contemplated over the HotWheels guard with flames and other ideas, but I think something simple like a narrow ivory dart going behind it would work well. And I still think it would tie in better if I filled the recessed background of the letters with red.
Opinions?

Good morning everyone. I looked at the fork in daylight and I kinda liked what I was seeing. It was also still slightly tacky. Maybe because of the mustard that is been aging underneath. Anyway, I figured I would first try unmustardizing using the 50/50 vinegar and steel wool. This looks promising. I am going to continue with this first just to the unmustard pattern level. Then if I am pleased with that, I'll proceed as normal with the blending and such.

Little late to the party I've done similar but stripped to bare metal then applied Vaseline painted then rinsed of them covered the bike with black stove polish wiped it on the whole bike (won't stick completely to the paint but will darken giving paint an old dirty look) and flat clear.

Had to give the guard a red tape mockup too. Of course if I went this way, the red would be satin colonial Red

A small red pin outlining the white racing stripe just might be the right amount of 'punch' to the graphic without distracting from the other details.

Ah, I see. Yes, I bought a left and right set of these HotWheels pieces for an idea I had back on my Western Sizzler build that didn't pan out.

To be honest, I just don't feel the dart underneath the hotwheels badge (no matter if black or red).
I think if you fill in the badge with red (instead of the black), it should be enough by itself on the blank guard.

Yeah, I think that once you color the Hot Wheels logo, you may notice a visual detraction
with the color melding. Wow. What the hack did I just say?

I was getting prepared to go in another direction with like the old
Whacky Packages, Shot Wheels. Then I came across Snot Wheels
and Rot Wheels. Then I was thinking a Rat Wheels derivative of the
Rot Wheels?

Man, I'm digging that Bluetooth fork.

Actually without the fork, I'm kinda spinning my wheels. I can't really make any decision on any guard treatment, without seeing how it plays with the finished fork.
But I do love how the butterfly kickstand allows me to keep playing with the bike while the fork in in bluetooth mode.

Thanks, I think that is what OJ was saying earlier too as far as just using the hotwheels with the raw guard.
I'm not locked into using the hotwheels at all. I like it, but don't know if it looks too much like a gimmick.
Still held up by the fork before making any final opinion of any guard treatment.

And I love all the greenery in your yard. California is all dried out tans and browns these days.

Our courtyard is Queenfish's masterpiece. But here in Savannah most everything stays green. Here is a cool photo I just took for you. We've had a steady rain for a few hours now and it weighed down some of our bamboo where it leaned all the way over and the tips are actually touching the pavers.
