'55? Schwinn Spitfire

Picked this one up last night, according to the previous owner, its a '55 Spitfire. IDK where the serial # is to confirm...
Its original down to the tires. Not sure if im gonna keep it yet or not...

Man I dig these schwinns with the scrolling/stenciling where the white and blue meet... I just got a 24 inch starlet(I think) for my wife that is the same color scheme... Wish I could find me a mens one to go with it...

That looks like it can be cleaned up nice. The fenders look in good shape. Just some touchup blue and white paint and it'll look great. The handlebar stem isn't schwinn, although it's not a big deal.

I think you may be incorrect about the stem. I have a pair of Tornadoes (sp?) sitting here with that stem, as well as a couple of other late 50's / early 60's cheaper model Schwinns with them... I had an early Typhoon with one too.
I've also seen some sold recently that were suggested to be Schwinn by the person who was selling them.

I'm with Rat Royale on the stem. Schwinn used wlad stems on lots of their bikes.
