Re: New Project Truck- Mono-chrome!

So far between paint and primer I will guess 20 cans. I still need to wet sand and shoot the whole thing one more time. I left a couple blankets behind.

Ordered my airbags yesterday so hopefully we get some nice weather next weekend!

Re: New Project Truck- Mono-chrome!

COOL! When I get to that point on the suspension on my delivery, I may need some advice!

Re: New Project Truck- Mono-chrome!

Bags and suspension parts are on the way and since is is snowing again I decided to create some artist renditions to let me see how some different paint schemes.

Re: New Project Truck- Mono-chrome!

Nice I like the scallop idea, personally I'd go for a red scallop with white pinstripe around the edges.

Re: New Project Truck- Bags Have Arrived

My bag kit showed up today! I am still waiting on my step notch kit to get here and, unfortunately for me, the 4-link, the bags, and everything else has to wait until the stop notch is installed to move forward.

I did spend the evening assembling the valve assemblies and, reading the instructions for everything

Re: New Project Truck- Bags Have Arrived

Can't wait to see the stuff installed! Looking good so far.

Re: New Project Truck- Bags Have Arrived

My Step Notch left Sacramento tonight and UPS says it will be here on Wednesday. That means next weekend will be busy for me!
I will be done in time to load up and sell some bike parts at the Midwest Bicycle Swap!

A few pics of my progress this past week.

Test layout of the valves in the 20mm High Explosive ammo crate I am using to house some of the air bag hardware.

Hard to see the industrial switch on the side of the crate that I added to give me a remote drop button.

I am itching to get everything mounted and drop it to the ground!

Re: New Project Truck- Suspension Upgrade Weekend

At 8:00 this morning when I am usually getting ready for bed I started my air bag installation.

I had a couple friends from work stop by to help me get the bed off the truck. One helped and hung around for about a half hour before he went home to sleep. Shortly after he left my best friend, another coworker and the guy I bought the truck from, stopped in. With their help I joined the club of people crazy enough to cut their frame in half.

I got the step notch installed on both frame rails. Not as much as I had hoped to accomplish on Day 1, but there was so much cutting and test fitting that I feel like it was a good day. Tomorrow I will start off installing the 4-link and panhard bar. After that bags and associated equipment and then wheel well and bed modifications.

I would like to get everything done by 4pm tomorrow when my local AutoZone is holding their annual car show. I doubt I will make it by then but my original goal of completing everything by Sunday evening is completely achievable.

I have been up for 32 hours now and am done for the day. Good night everyone. This builder is going to bed. Stay tuned through the weekend to watch everything come together.

Re: New Project Truck- Suspension Upgrade Weekend

Looks like you made quite a bit of progress! It's a lot more work than most people realize, but well worth it IMO. 8)

Suspension Upgrade Day 2:

Fell a little further behind where I had hoped to be today, but most of the cutting and grinding should be done now. Tomorrow I will get the bags in, plumbed, and functioning. Hope to get the bed mods done as well.

My daughter came out and helped with the assembly and ran the camera as well.

Began by yanking the leaf springs and front hangers
