A partial "S" bend seatpost would slick in there. Any good electrician should be able to bend one up for you.

Longer seat is ordered. So I wanted to focus on the drivetrain. I got the chain length set, and the work I did on the dropouts to allow for derailleur clearance paid off. In order for the chain to move freely in 1st gear I had to cut away a bit more of the fender.

and cleaned up a couple other areas as well.

I made some adjustments to the guard. It tucks into the fender nicely. But I’m left with a question, and I’d like some opinions...of course I’m piecing this together from parts that haven’t worked together before, but I’m trying to get them to look like they were made for this. What’s bothering me is the end of the guard. It extends down the middle of the dropouts. I could cut it off and attach it towards the front, but I’m concerned that would look like crap, thoughts?

In my opinion with that crazy dropout, it would look cleaner cut off flush with the radius and fabricate a strap to mount it behind the dropout.

Interesting. Any suggestions for the mount? I could put a screw and nut through the back of the guard, but how to attach the mount? Hmmmm.... would JB Weld be strong enough? Probably not.

Tomorrow I’m going to make a mounting tab and have a tack welded in place.
That’s what I’d do. You can drill holes in the mounting tab and plug weld them to the backside of the guard and it will hold up fine.

You may have to bend a little dogleg in it to keep the guard flush with front of the drop out.

Thanks @Rat Pilot for the suggestion. I made a tab and drilled and tapped a mounting hole. I cut a grove into the decorative lip of the dropout.

I hired my 15 year old son who takes welding at school to tack it on.

That looks great! If you don’t mind, I’m going to get with you on how you did the those redlines on the tires of one of your muscle bike build. I’d like to try to do that for the ‘37 Rollfast I just acquired. It’s looking that is turning into a hot rod/muscle bike build.

I think your fender is the same fender I used, just in chrome. I had to keep removing material from the fender mount to get the gap consistent all the way around. Mine was pinching down at the mount also. The top picture is before I finally took off enough to get it even and the bottom pic is how I finally got it.

I really do love that AMF frame! I hope I can find one of those!

Are you going silver on the frame?

I got the XL seat in today. Why they put the mounting holes so far forward, I’ll never know. It sticks out the back of the sissy. What’s the point? Anyway, I can either mount it by the holes it came with and get a laid back sissy, or I can drill new mounting holes, plug the old ones, and make it look more normal. The owner is going to decide.
