Quick pause to mock this back up and check my lines, mod this hub to fit and grabbed a spare saddle out of the house. Maybe I don't need to build a long spring from scratch. This one always gave me the extra room I needed on my silver king and it doesn't look out of place on here either
This will give me the same chainline I had before. Now I just have to decide if I want to clean some of this redundant tubing out of here. I may just cut out the old downtube section and round it out a little. I could actually ride it now technically if I wasn't already wearing a clean shirt and calling it a day
Wait till I get this in the ground. It is not much more than this many inches tall and I managed to squeeze my legs in here without making it look too crazy
I need to get this bike on the ground and rideable. I just remembered I could make a really rat saddle with this. I need to decide what gets details and what stays rusty. Being stubborn about in rust we trust doesn't always take home trophies around here. I am also competing with a camera.
I am going to delete these tubes here clean this up just a little. Not too much so it looks like a "pretty" bicycle but just enough so I don't look lazy and it has a clean looking drop loop. I am just hating on doing simple stuff like cables and putting tubes in the tires. I am leaving this bracket the way it is so I can always use a disk brake here later if I change my mind on wheels. Or decide to add electric assist after this is all over.
I hate tire changes and cables. I am still a brutalist here though. Shame I don't have those thick bricks it would make this simpler I could just make it skiptooth with those 24's. I think I am going to like it this way though with the wheels I just built and hand brakes
Kate: your dinner is ready it's on the counter.
Me: My chainline is perfect. I am just gonna sit outside for awhile and stare at it.
Sun: completely sets
Me: I swear it looks better in the dark. I mean it looks good during the day too but I love these sky colors. Oh snap I am supposed to be out here looking for a comet.
Just dawned on me these are technically the same bicycle
I also figured out how to use a trigger shift with one suicide lever to make it slap shift. Looking like that second bottom bracket is going to be useful after all. I just have to figure out where I put that shifter
