My thoughts are with you. I'm sure she'll be there beside you in that sidecar in spirit. It would be nice if you could incorporate something into the build that once belonged to her or that she gave you...

Glen.

So sorry for your loss. My grandmother passed away a few months ago, it's never easy to accept the inevitable. Dedicating the bike to her will give you great purpose during these hard early days.

I want to thank everyone for your thoughts and wishes...
I know that Pierce built Arrow bikes from 1909-1919.
As I am dedicating this bike to my gran,I have decided to find a plaque with the year she was born 1922...I hope I can find one in time...
Thankyou to all of you!!!!:angelic:

My first hitchhiker...

I just purchased a blank saint christophe tag...
I will have it engraved,or tap something in myself...
Will keep my eye out for a 1922 french tag.I can always put that on after the build.Something with history and something handmade....

Slapped a lil paint onto the frame yesterday,And finished welding the bottom bar in today, also the bit for the stick shift...

Tomorrow I hope to clean up the welds, then start painting/aging/ and varnishing the frame.
Now I am waiting on tires and rear wheel + other bits n bobs.
Aim is to have the frame and the top of the sidecar finished this week.
Graphics on the tank & sidecar.
Then only need to work on sidecar chassis..
I am also trying to get my quad back on the road..

Slowly but surely...Getting things done.Managed to finish the frame,as I was putting the forks back on,I couldn't screw the nut that holds the forks in place on...
The head stem was slightly longer????:banghead:
Instead of re-cutting and welding,I cut the ends down,I only needed like 3-4mm.Anyway problem is fixed.
Also managed to make a 7 seat post from old plumbing pipe.
CAM00626.jpg

Extra long; I hate riding all scrunched up...
CAM00627.jpg

Working on the rims(the front and sidecar) still waiting on the rear to arrive. I want them to look rusty,so its rusting time with alloy rims...
Also the throttle and chain guard has to be painted with the rusty patina look....
Rims before.

Rusty patina look...First coat.

Also made the hole bigger, wich also dropped some weight off.And cut the bottom brackets down.Trying to come up with a idea to take more weight off(front end).
Was thinkin to cut a panel out of the bottom and maybe make either a mesh or see thru bottom?:39:
I want it to be able to carry things without things dropping out holes onto the road...

CAM00633.jpg
CAM00632.jpg

The grips need painting, have to get rid of most of the chrome.:crazy2:
I want the bike to look old n dirty.
CAM00631.jpg

Maybe something like the front of this sidecar... in a mesh or grill...
I also like the idea of flames cut in with your torch...
or even nice horizontal lines --------
but in a dash dash dash pattern (need SOME support)
you could still drill a million holes in it... half holes - half the weight!

Carl.

Hand-painted the graphics on the sidecar, decided I only wanted 1 side done...Don't want to overkill it...
Now I have to age them, and rust the sidecar more...
CAM00637.jpg

CAM00640.jpg

Left to do on the sidecar,is a trim around the edge, light fixture, mount seat...

Been thinking about mounts... I may do a sidecar some day...
How about spring loaded hinges that push it down but allow you to lean into it?
BTW Nice lettering.

I am trying to figure out if I want it fixed or flexible,I thought of thin shocks,I had some that use to open the back window from a honda civic...:39:
I wonder if I kept them or tossed em....
I need to put the whole bike together first,as not much space for the mounts,I was trying for 2 on the rear, but they are so thin, maybe just mount one to the rear wheel and 1 up front,Also they have to dismantle easy....
