Take 2 at making a fiberglass storage tank.
insulation foam

spray adhesive and wrapped in cellophane,
reinforcement wood at the bottom and thicker ridges to stiff things up,
20108641_1074196466048895_8867666967901888444_n.jpg

2-3 layers on glass
fiber bondo
bondo
primer
much sanding in between each

now that it looks so perfect , ill be cutting it in half , empty the foam , mount it and hinge one side

Nice job! How do you plan to access the storage? If it's hinged will the cut on the bottom need to be offset to allow it to swing open without the frame interfering?

TRM approved from one fiberglass tank builder to another!

iam pretty much figuring it out as i go , ive cut the tank straight in the middle , i think ill mount the piano hinge so the pivot is below the bottom of the tank on the side of the lower tube, it should allow it to open 90* , ill probably use 1 or 2 cable as stoper and have no idea yet how ill make the latching , i know i might need 2 for strenght as it will most likely be used to cary a few beers and tools

ordered 2 of those , locking and latching at the same time , perfect .. will probably just use a bolt on the bottom of the top tube to hook on it

tank split , foam removed , success this time !

my innitial idea was to just trow the cycle analist in the box to not see it/affect the look ,but after thought i want ease acces to it and see how much juice i have left , so i thought of flush mounting it in the tank

Boom! flush mounted CA

will make a sealed cover for the CA and all the wires

also added the 3speed switch( removed from the handle bar clamp)
a electronic key lock and quick on-off switch ease of reach

still waiting on my key lock latch i ordered to keep the hinged right half of the tank closed
(will take pics of how i mounted the tank halfs)
I also drilled the bars to pass the throttle cable trough it

also waiting on : drop stand -wide offset BB -bigger 40t sprocket - vintage pedals

Great use of the tank space! Looks great.

One suggestion though, I would consider having both switches the same and in symmetrical locations to the screen. Check google images for 'rocker switch' or 'billet rocker switch' for some cool ideas.

WOW!!!!
At first I wasn't feeling the tank when you had pics of it by itself. But not that I see it on, it is spot on for scale and style!!!
This build is amazing brother!

i wish it was that easy , thing is the 3speed switch have special resistors in it , cant just use any other switch without being super knowlegable and meticulous .
since i wanted to tuck all the wires and electonics in the smallest pacage as possible i wanted to put both the key switch and 3sp swich in the nose of the tank , and there was not much options for disposition , had to clear the CA under and not be too close to the edge .
the other on/off switch is back cause it could not fit in front and had to be most accessible as possible and oriented (pulling it back=off) as its my emergency cut off that i removed from the handlebars for cleaner look , so i linned it up with the bottom of the screen like the 3sp .
i might recess the 3sp and paint it same collor.

had to make compromises for pacticality ,
tank storage space and safety

:)Thanks king , glad you like it , i do allot :D

This build is amazing. One question. I have a similar electric hub. Does the main body of the hub also spin when going inside the aluminum housing you made for it?
yes it does , its a front hub so it has a freewheel inside it so the motor reduction gears dont spin inside when coasting , the down side is the left chain always turns when rolling

here is the underside of the tank
i welded tabs for the fixed half (+3 on top)
and cut the piano hinge very close to the pivot and spot welded it to the frame

that feeling of climbing a 30degre grass hill while sitting down relaxed barley pedaling is epic!
i still top 39kmh , but starts much faster
