This is exactly correct and has been repeated by many wrenches. I tested it and it's true, I needed to back off a half a turn and then it was perfect!

Here's some photos from today. I promise more associated words soon but it's crunch month at work.
Short take is I re-installed the AW on the Araya hoop with used DT spokes from the BC. Repacked the front hub and it's ok.
I don't agree with the way Schwinn ran their cables to the rear, bare cable isn't neccessary or even well-executed as built. More to come.
Also, I think she's beautiful! Balanced, proportional, I think it works but the devil is in the details, amIright?

If you're not happy with the shifter place it on the seat stem make sure you have one of these and you can shorten your cable. I find the sturmey shifters pop right out on the bars
Então, this is my first build-off and I was debating leaving the nicer wheels and derailleur on or reinstalling the SA 3sp which is surely what will happen AFTER the build-off. Then as I read through several other build journals I realized that lot's of y'all pull parts from previous builds to use on the current one!
In my mind the 1x8 setup with the gray anodized wheels "looks" cooler but will not stay on Regina I don't think.
Do I leave on the cool stuff for now? I think that is the better plan.

Yes, I now have three Schwinns with the SA 3sp and two of them use "cable anchorage" like this:
My “reglar” cable crimper thingys don't fit inside.
So I found one like @ingola said. The 65 Vette has this type.
The Scwhinn green colors back in the day..
Another $25 SA pick up, 72 Breezer.

I got old, now I'm just trying to stay warm
I'm all about the 'rolling / ride able' pieces of art we build. I ride all my bikes. One of the fun things is seeing the guys at the bike shop look up when I show up for the aft / eve shift to see which bike I rode to work that day.
One day I rode my gravel road bike which I got new about 3 yrs ago from the shop. Manager looks up and says,
"That bike is too new for you."

Been holding on to this image for a while
I get that to every day on my way to work I grab a coffee the old guys who hang out at the Tims look forward to seeing what bike I'm riding that day. I've started using a mountain bike now and there all stunned hate it actually but 12 km to work on a 60 lbs cruiser is just not fun anymore.

Pretty creative, but it could use a beer holder on one side and a snack holder on the other.
I finally had a chance to catch up with this thread, and I can’t figure out where you’re finding all these lovely $20 bicycles?!?
If you’re doing that kind of mileage to work every day, I would not consider a lighter bicycle. I’d have something motorized. (Who am I kidding? Half of my working life of 40+ years I spent running back-and-forth on motorcycles.)
But everybody has a different work situation. I worked at places where you would get fired if they thought you didn’t dress well and your car was too shabby.
The last place I worked, I could’ve shown up on a skateboard and they didn’t care because I can fix computers.
