Behind the scenes I've been redoing a Persons saddle, disassembly, rust removal, primer, paint, etc. I'm ready to add some foam to seat pan and cover with some imported leather.
Other than that taking it easy for a few days. Results from a recent biopsy came back negative so I should be around to finish this build. Now to just survive the heat. I went for a ride this AM and my bike computer read 100+ degrees towards the end of ride.

Just catching up here.
Fender looks great, I've been looking at the same pedal set for my build; along with a set without reflectors.
Dig the fender ornament on the stem.
And it's good to hear the good news from the doc.

Great progress !
Gj on the paint again on that fender ,
LOVE the ornement allot !,
that custom chain guard is awesome , sad it does not fit the build ,
did not know about the health issue , but glad to hear results are good !

Yah don't neglect your health and physical condition to build bikes. Take care of yourself.
Worked at getting the Persons saddle back together. It started out pretty rough and appeared to be a hybrid version with mixed parts.

I took it apart cleaned, wire wheeled, sanded, primed and painted parts. I used foam as cushion and rough leather as cover.

It's so beautiful, fantastic work.

Awesome work and it has given me inspiration to get to work on my 2 Elgins, I keep thinking I need to take the seats somewhere to be re-upholstered.....but I think I will give it go myself!

Thanks! Seats aren't that hard to do, I've had better luck with leather than vinyl. Just don't get in a hurry and plan out steps. An upholstery shop would do a better job than myself as I've seen the work from a couple locally.
Rather interesting how many Elgins are still out there, but of course they were merchandised by Sears and Roebuck.

I found a possible license plate today. It's a 1960 but the 6241 relates to perceived 1941 year of the bike. I was in high school in '60.

The bike is coming together well! Has a very custom vintage look to it, love the mix of colors.

Too hot for me to work outside today. I'm thinking I'll use the repop chain guard, the lines are similar to one sold by Sears in '41 as an accessory. I did some preliminary fitting in the house. It is positioned to far forward in the photos and the rear bracket will probably need to go up one hole to clear the chain. Now it can be chrome, black or green...decisions.
