Really digging the color scheme you've got going on this one.
May I ask what make/color of green is on the frame?
Thinking it might make for a cool truck color someday.

Cheers!

Glad you are liking the colors. The Rustoleum paint isn't their deluxe paint so the color isn't named. It is a little lighter shade than the Hunter Green in the "2X" version.
Here is the data from the bottom and a label shot.

Some of those paint nozzles really suck . I like to save the good ones when the can is empty & use them again if possible. Bike is looking great.

Spent Monday and Tuesday on family stuff, Wednesday grocery store, gardening and unwinding. We're suppose to have some dry weather over the next week or so.
I hope to get back to doing a test assembly on the Elgin now that is has color, on Thursday. I'm picking up the rear fender on Friday. It needed a few holes welded shut and required some rolling to smooth it out. It was pretty rough but it should match the front one with the center rib and tapered tail. It was from a girls bike.

Month #2: I hauled out the parts and roughly fit the Elgin together. I have 2 different stem possibilities at this point, the stock quill stem and a quill seat post, shim and tandem seat post stem. The hybrid requires trimming the top and finding a cap. Mixed feelings, think I like the hybrid version better.
I think the tank could use the Elgin logo or some graphics. The paint transitions could use some copper striping to mask the flaws.
I'm still undecided on the white paint glitches. Some photos, our beagle likes my rawhide hammer.

Tried one seat, it's easy as is. The other requires a restoration.

Still need to finish rear fender.

the newer looking stem does not really fit the bike in my opinion, my vote goes to the old original stem.

I'm probably in agreement also. Just thought the hybrid stem was a creative use of parts. I got a better stock type stem in mail today. Bolt heads aren't rounded, should be able to actually tighten them up.

Thinking that this new stem will get the copper treatment.

Cleaned up new stem and added some copper color. I picked up the the fender yesterday, Crown Customs closed the extra holes, SS massaged it back into shape. Now to get the extra fender brace location tied down and painted to match front.

Church in session, fitting fender braces. I need to get some washers or spacers to set out braces to clear axle adjusters. After finalizing secondary brace location two hole to drill and on to paint.

Ed, that hammered copper looks great on the bell! And that fender turned out really well too. You're getting it dialed in....
I had church in the BACK40 to this morning, only working on customer's bike repairs, hybrids from the mid-90's, instead of fun stuff. Oh well, sometimes church is celebration, and sometimes more exhortation. :)

Added three washers to gain clearance for axle/chain adjusters.

Scuff sanded primer, tack rag cleaning and put on first coat of R-O 2X semi-gloss black, I'll lightly sand and add another coat in around 48 hours. That is how I handled the front and tank. I hurried to hang in garage before the cottonwood trees added their touch or a bug got stuck on it. True shade tree work in progress.

Scuff sanded the rear fender and gave it another coat of semi-gloss black. It's age and oldness is being retained. Some of its pitting and signs of use remain, although muted. It might get another coat.
I also decided to mutilate the old Delta light and gave the top half a coat of plastic compatible primer. It may show up as green to match the frame.

In looking thru old catalog reprints it appears that this Delta light possibly came out in 1958-59. It was produced as a single (mine) and a double lens light.

Bike is coming out great! Always love copper.

That cog looks like one of those new skip tooth cogs. I got one for my Iver and found it best to file the top sides of the teeth a little so that they find their way into the chain easier (and quieter).
