What I started with a 58 ish Firestone 500 in a pile of parts with a few missing pieces.

found some fenders that matched the patina better and added some baskets. I cleaned the frame up with some WD40 and steel wool and then a couple coats of boiled linseed oil and acetone mix. I had to clearance the fork and fender a little to clear the 26 x 2.125

Picked up a stand not sure what size bike it was for tried it out but was to short. Cut it in half and used some tubing to extend it to clear the fender and reflector.

Finally got out for some finished pic's.

Brian, this came out cool! Nice touches on the clean up of this vintage bike and green rims / tire combo.

I really like how the sun is directly above the bike in this photo makes the fenders, bars, and whole bike glow.

The graphics really make that bike. How did I miss seeing this build?

Like a Hawthorne, Firestone is a brand name, the bike was built by Snyder, who also made Rollfast. The graphics may be unique to Firestone though. Your chain wheel is Murray, probably changed out years ago.

So if it's a 58, the serial number may be on the bottom bracket or rear dropout. Probably the bottom bracket as my list shows the transition to the dropout in 1959. You should see a 5 digit number with an 85 SN (or EH) as the year is reversed on Snyder bikes of that era. 75 would be a 1957 bike. I rode the same bike, although stripped down, back when I was a busboy for Denny's in the early 70's.

Thanks the chain wheel was in the parts pile with the rest of the parts wasn't sure if it was original. Will check the serial number later today.

I love the graphics from this time period and this one is no exception.
The 2 different tones of blu-ish green from the bike and the wheels give this an ocean breezy kind of cruiser feel.
