That’s pretty crazy to put all that trust into 4 little screws in that retainer to hold the neck together for a matter of tear down and convenience.

Very interesting. I've never seen or heard of that before. It seems like stability would be an issue. You repair guys/gals get to see such cool and interesting stuff.

Very cool @EricForreal nice assortment of axes and parlor amps. That Super-Sonic amp is big enough to gig small clubs. I while back I read somewhere that most of Fenders in-house techs all have Super-Sonics and that they are one of Fenders best made modern amps.

That’s pretty crazy to put all that trust into 4 little screws in that retainer to hold the neck together for a matter of tear down and convenience.

When I snapped the neck into place it still had a very small bit of wiggle. I mean that I could make it move with a little pressure. So, removing the neck again, I recessed the shoulder of the screw by about half it's thickness and placed a very thin shim of plastic stock under the area where the two screws in the neck pickup route were located (I missed getting a good picture of them, they were in the end of the tenon in the pickup route) this tightened up the joint nicely. The shim was so thin I barely had to raised the bridge, maybe a quarter turn on the thumbwheels. I should've taken some more pics as this is the only time I've ever seen this, including internet searches. It was purchased by the client from Japan on eBay and was a real mutt as far as hardware with the original gold plated bridge and tailpiece replaced by mismatched chrome and blk chrome pieces and the original tuners replaced with chrome Grover rotomatics. (this all may have been done by the client, as I didn't see it previous to showing up on my bench with the "Set" screw ripped out of the back of the neck.

It sounds like you nailed the repair on that odd ball with a thoughtful and precise solution. I bought the Super Sonic after seeing Greg Koch live( before he went to Koch amps). It's more amp than I need, but it's a keeper. The '61 Harmony is a fun one too.

Here's a fun thing that happened. I pulled a few frets out to create an Electric Dulcimer from an old Teisco. I reconfigured the order of strings to make it a little more guitar player friendly.

used a good portion of a nice chunk of black pearl pickguard, but hey how often do you see one of these?

So Gibson Custom Shop recently built 5 Les Pauls with Seymour Duncan Telecaster pickups in them. There's number 1/5 for sale on Reverb. Now I'm not spending $5795.00 on something I can do myself... So I did this yesterday.

Note the broken headstock repaired structurally but still visible. So I figured no loss but it actually rocks pretty well. Hot ceramic pickups still twang but the tension is different. I like it and think I may play this one for a while.

Sweet backlit sparkplug! This body showed up today. No predrilled holes so here's my down and dirty bridge alignment to neck. Then I hand drilled two of six...
I may throw a better bridge on here but the plan is to flip it so...

A lapsteel I built last fall. 3 piece Redwood body/neck, ebony board, binding, and head cap/back strap. Schaller m6 minis's, brass nut, early '90's tele Bridge. Bridge pickup is a '98 mim '72 tele reissue, neck is early '90's, mij Jerry Donahue.

'50's Kay or Silvertone. It was a gift from a repairman buddy of mine from Iowa city.
It had two top cracks coming off the f holes and a loose braces. Also a total rebind with tortoise celluloid binding. I routed a a slot for a truss rod, re-radiused the board from a 9.5" to a 12" to accommodate the tune-o-matic, fretted the board with evo wire, made a bone nut and set the neck. Gotoh tuners and bridge. Soon to have a pair of floating gold foils.
