I put the Fender amp back together, without reverb, and the noises I though were loose connections at the reverb were actually the speaker. After 25 years, gravity has defeated the suspension, and the speaker coil is rubbing a little.

Time to order a new one.

It will be nicer soon. When the rain stops. We’re used to much less rain and much more irrigation.

Right now it’s much too damp.

I’ve been indoors scrounging bits for an experimental Fuzztone device.

But I don’t have all the right capacitors yet.
Sounds great, can't beat a good fuzz. What kind of caps do you need?

Right now just a small .01 µF I’ll probably find one in my junk pile in the shed.

I tore apart some old TV & PC gear and I found the other capacitors and resistors I need, a pile of fat diodes, and I’ve got some transistors that might be excellent candidates.

No germanium though.

I’ve got trim pots and a volume pot. I have jacks to salvage (from an old inexpensive DJ mixer from RadioShack) a power brick, and I may end up building it all into a multi effects pedal by cannibalizing other stuff that doesn’t have its own power supply.

Nice one, sounds like a fun project.

I collect my germaniums from portable battery radios from the 50s/60s when I need to stock up. A bit of a gamble sometimes but it adds to the fun.

I have a small run of fuzzes I need to finish but other projects keep getting in the way. Time to dust off the soldering iron I think.
