Ideas / Advice for Cruising Cali Central Coast?

Ms Jerrykr and I will be in Santa Maria, CA. in the latter part of Sep to visit with her family.
We want to take a day or two to do some beach cruising or other interesting bike rides while we are out there.
We will have a rental car, so cities such as Santa Barbara or others are within reach for us.
We would prefer to stay off streets if possible.
Advice on Bike Rentals, Beach Trails, Locations, Food and Drink Stops, etc. would be very much appreciated.

The Bob Jones trail in Avila Beach is fun trail. Have fun!

Thanks for that. Just what we are looking for. Hope Avila has bike rentals.

edited: Did some searching online. Very good choice. Been to Avila, it is a beautiful town.

If you make it to Santa Barbara there are bike rentals and a bike path along the beach at Cabrillo Boulivard. Its an easy cruise up State Street to the Mission with lots of food and drink spots along the way.

Thank you 1manta. SB is about 1 hr south of Santa Maria. I bet we make that ride. Sounds just right.
