Works great for stripping anodizing too.
Found some flyers from Evans, one is for the earlier model. This was definitely an expensive bike back in the day.

I also found a cleaner example on the CABE and shamelessly store the pics.
View attachment 263753View attachment 263754 I'm not going to do a period correct, ground up restoration, I want to build this bike to look like it belongs in the future. It's going to have a heavy cyberpunk aesthetic. I'm also going to stretch it out just a little more like I've been doing for years now.
I really appreciate everyone's support for the direction I'm taking this build. I thought for sure I was going to anger the bike gods for defiling such an iconic bike.
Whoops, just realized I said the wrong store. The oven cleaner came from Walmart, not Dollar Tree. My bad
That stuff still works great for removing rattle can spray paintSo you upgraded beyond the cheap buckandaquarter stuff.
Oooh la la Mr FancyWhoops, just realized I said the wrong store. The oven cleaner came from Walmart, not Dollar Tree
For right now, dual Springer. I can lock it off later if it doesn't work out the way I wantSpringer front and back, or just holding the rear in place?
I was going to do a partial bare metal blend into OG paint. Does the oven cleaner require any neutralizing?Pa-pow-da-na-POW! The magic can! The patina pattern on the tank is incredible! I'm so glad I used this method to remove the paint instead of sanding

Nope, it just needs water to cleanupI was going to do a partial bare metal blend into OG paint. Does the oven cleaner require any neutralizing?
One thing I would suggest is to coat the bare steel in oil until you're ready to clear coat the whole frameI was going to do a partial bare metal blend into OG paint. Does the oven cleaner require any neutralizing?
Hey! Are you going to use that seatpost mounting area of that Elgin frame?I truly hate that this works as well as it does.

Believe me, I hate myself for considering this option more than all of the bike purists out there.
View attachment 264286View attachment 264287View attachment 264288View attachment 264289The perfect solution was to cut the rear triangle off my 30's Elgin, invert it, then slap it onto the back of the Olympic. The profile is 100% on point with what was in my head when I first thought of this. Now to do some more trimming and try to get it into rolling chassis today
"The man says it works."Pa-pow-da-na-POW! The magic can! The patina pattern on the tank is incredible! I'm so glad I used this method to remove the paint instead of sanding
