Found some flyers from Evans, one is for the earlier model. This was definitely an expensive bike back in the day.

I also found a cleaner example on the CABE and shamelessly store the pics.

View attachment 263753View attachment 263754 I'm not going to do a period correct, ground up restoration, I want to build this bike to look like it belongs in the future. It's going to have a heavy cyberpunk aesthetic. I'm also going to stretch it out just a little more like I've been doing for years now.

I got one of those 1st gen Evanaction design forks on the Olympic I scored last year. Cool and unusual. I still love the Harley Earl jet age vibe of the style on your Olympic fork better though.

I really appreciate everyone's support for the direction I'm taking this build. I thought for sure I was going to anger the bike gods for defiling such an iconic bike.

No worries about that here. We ain't the CABE. :D
Plus, we know your skillz and you won't be defiling anything!!!!
Eagerly awaiting the next post.

Whoops, just realized I said the wrong store. The oven cleaner came from Walmart, not Dollar Tree. My bad

So you upgraded beyond the cheap buckandaquarter stuff. :D

I truly hate that this works as well as it does.

Believe me, I hate myself for considering this option more than all of the bike purists out there.

The perfect solution was to cut the rear triangle off my 30's Elgin, invert it, then slap it onto the back of the Olympic. The profile is 100% on point with what was in my head when I first thought of this. Now to do some more trimming and try to get it into rolling chassis today

I dug through my parts pile and finally found the hub I want to use. It's a 7 speed Nexus with a drum brake I've had for years. Gonna make the brake and shift cables look like braided EV controller cables and hang a faux controller off the tank

I've never dealt with Nexus hubs, so if anyone knows of a better shifter than what's on it, I'd really appreciate a link for a better unit. I'd prefer a sequential shifter style if possible.

I've put a ton of miles on this wheel, but never liked how skinny the rim was, so I'm going to lace it onto one of the 65mm rims I got a few days ago after I paint it to match the bikes patina

Hey! Are you going to use that seatpost mounting area of that Elgin frame?
