Calling all balloon tires, muscle bikes, customs, tank bikes. The First Annual Jersey Cruisers Boardwalk Cruise is this Sunday, August 29. We will start at Wreck Pond in Spring Lake and cruise 5 miles into Ocean Grove. All are invited to attend and ride with us even if you don't have a vintage bike. Come out and enjoy the beautiful Jersey Shore. The ride starts at 7am. I chose this early time because you can ride on the boardwalk. Most towns shut their boardwalks to bikes at 9. Would like to have been part of this ride, but the start time is WAY too early. We would have to be on the road by 6am to just make it there for 7am. Maybe have another in the fall when bikes are allowed on the boardwalk or just ride the streets parallel to the boardwalk. A later start time will also be better for those that have to travel.
If we were heading to this ride, we would have parked the car in Asbury Park and biked down to the starting point, which means we'd be leaving our home way before 6am. Then at the end of the ride in Ocean Grove, we would be closer to the car.
Maybe a future ride can start in Asbury Park, head south towards Ocean Grove and loop back up so it ends near the starting point. Then the rest of the day can be spent playing pinball at http://silverballmuseum.com/, having some drinks and food at http://www.langostalounge.com/ and http://www.brickwalltavern.com/index.html, or just cruising past the Fall Harvest Festival & Craft Show in Ocean Grove.

Good input, maybe a later start time would be better for next time. We were just thinking about the boardwalk rules on bikes after 9am. We will try to have another ride in the fall and start later in the day. Agree with the idea for silverball. I was there with the kids the other day and they had a great time playing the vintage pinball machines.
