That's super classy. I definitely like the combo of old and new looks. It is very tastefully done... but then, what else would we expect??

Thanks again!

Found some oooooold blue Schwalbe BlackShark tires the other day.

Changed the gearing for something around 48:18.

here are some bad cellphone pics.

I like it.
Those chromed 26 inch frames are used way too little.

I did the Blitzen Bike a few years back:

And I just got me another fully chromed frame for building a MKII version. Those frames are dirt cheap when you shop around a little.

Thanks a lot.

Nice ride Baron - already seen it over at Tretharley. :)

I just ordered the same stem in a shorter 120cm version (now has 135mm). Guess that helps improving "ridability". I'm still looking for a chrome motocross handlebar.

Where did you get those fork trusses?

Wow sharp build - can you give a parts breakdown ? Also is that a new school F/F ?

Thanks!

Let me try:

chrome noname cruiser frame, stainless Van Schotthorst rims, blue anodized nipples, blue valve caps, Schwalbe BlackShark tires, SACHS front hub, rare Shimano drum brake cassette rear hub, blue anodized Shogun saddle quick release, stem and partly polished brake levers, fork struts are from an old Electra, saddle & grips from a Schinn Fixie, seatpost from porkchop bmx, stainles flex brake cables, blue anodized XLC pedals and chrome 3piece cranks, sproket is from a cheapo bmx

I guess that's it. ;-)

What do you mean by F/F?

Frame/Fork BMX talk- Turned out real nice . I just picked up a Monark but trying to score a Schwinn . My buddy at ( LBS ) local bike store was trying to talk me into a brand new f/f like yours but in raw for his cost . But i really want an older Schwinn . Really digging those hubs you got - looks like a very expensive hobby - definitely not new to the hobby as im more into BMX and MTBs at the time . But these Klunkerz are turning this hobby in a different direction .

Ah! Thanks 4 the explanation.

Expensive? Let me try to break it down:

chrome noname cruiser frame - € 50
stainless Van Schotthorst rims - € 25
blue anodized nipples - € 10
spokes - € 20
blue valve caps - € 6
Schwalbe BlackShark tires - € 10
SACHS front hub - € 15
rare Shimano drum brake cassette rear hub - € 20
Shogun saddle quick release - € 8
stem - € 15
brake levers € 12
fork struts free
saddle & grips - € 20
seatpost - € 10
brake cables - € 10
blue anodized XLC pedals - € 20
3piece cranks - € 50
sproket - € 10

-> €311.00 that's $ 405.00

quite okay for an individually styled bike i guess. ;-)

VERY quite OK for a custom bike of the caliber you have built!
BTW, if you are a scrounger and want/have to do this on the cheap, you can build a very acceptable bike for well less (though likely not as nice, right off), and upgrade as stuff comes along. These quality builds are an inspiration, for sure.

I think it is stunningly beautiful and certainly worth every penny, especially considering that you achieved a very decent standard of quality in the package. It's certainly not the usual rubbish I build.
