That looks like it had been there all along!
That’s the guiding light goal on this one. Thanks!

That looks great!
Glad someone else likes the look, I still need to rough it up some. Thanks.
By the time the front fender is mounted at the other end of the bike, only you will be able to tell the difference. [emoji106]

Hoping you’re right. Still some tweaking to do on it. I’ve got another set of tires to experiment with. I’ll have some time on Wednesday to see how it may look installed.
Nice work on the fender aging technique. See, isn't ratty fun?
It pains me to mess up good fresh paint though. The acrylic is left over from the saddle “restoration” I did in BO#12, per your recommendation. I guess I’m 50/50 on the fun part. Thanks.

Thanks, I think it works pretty well myself. At least I’m putting some of my old reflectors back in service. The one in the middle is glass. I have an almost mint green glass one that I might trade out with the center one.

Another tire option, found on the cheap. Not sure they will fit but couldn’t pass up the deal.

Roadblock: The new bargain basement Retro Rides at 28x2.2 fit the wheels nicely but not the bike...bummer. I was afraid of this. The first set of fenders that I had on the bike accept the tires “tightly” like a glove.

It would make a nice static display...riding nah. The front hits the fender screw at the fork and that’s with out the axle even being completely in the dropout slot.

They measure out at 29”x2.2365”. I’m assuming the 28x2.0/700x50 wouldn’t fit either.

There is sidewall clearance for rotation. Back to experimental design and rethinking the final direction of this LaidBack TransWorld Rat.

That sucks because they look great on there!

Yah, I’m disappointed but that’s the way it goes sometimes. You just regroup and move on.
Yeah, real shame they don't fit. How is it in the rear then? Worse or better? If the rear works maybe another fork?
The picture of the tire in the fender is the rear fender. I didn’t bother to try the rear.
I vote for these tires, skinwalls really complement the red.
They are starting to look better to me also. I have one more option coming up to try that should fit a little better. I want to use the older fenders.

The tire deal torqued me off...so in my angry mode I masked off the tank. Forgot to take a before paint photo. I added a red perimeter outline stripe on both sides. This was an angry freehand eyeball layout.

Pretty pleased when I pulled the tape off...a good end to a frustrating day.

May add a couple of lines on top. Also have a couple of water slide decals to add.

I decided to repeat the perimeter line on top of the tank.

Screwed up my tank paint. I used some “old” striping tape on top. Adhesive had gotten tacky, I forged on.
Ended up masking over the striping tape. Self etching primer didn’t do its job on the galvanized metal or I didn’t get it degreased. Anyway top of tank has adhesive residue and missing paint when I removed masking tape. I’d used automotive masking tape on sides with no issues. Live and learn.

Now to come up with a fix.

Rust-Oleum autumn brown multi-color texture paint? [emoji16]

Yes, maybe an opportunity to “age” the tank at his point.

So glad to see someone else promoting the 'aging' benefits of Rust-Oleum texture paint! My latest trick with that came from my mustard experience. I now apply it with a sponge. Better control in small areas, and not as much spray over.

Still working on this. Need to try another set of tires. Pedals and seat are temporary, will probably put the chain guard back. Need to decide on grips and pedals based on final tires. And I need to fix the tank patina paint wise.
I did take it for a spin up and down the block. Pretty smooth for an 85 year old bike with new MIC wheels and 700x35c tires. The geometry even seems to work with my old “LaidBack” body.
