+ 1. Brown grips look great
Brown may be the ticket, the green would compliment the parrot though. Thanks for the input!

Parrot head, eh? NOW that makes sense!
Next thing you will tell me is you like margaritas, wear hush puppies, and you are the son of a son of a sailor.
I do like margaritas as does my wife, I have limited tolerance though due to Rx meds. I used to wear hush puppies. And “I” was a sailor for a few years, I like fruitcakes, cheeseburgers in paradise and I think sumerzcool, so there you have it. It’s five o’clock somewhere come Monday. Enough said.

You want a good way to ding up that tank? Toss it out the window of your car while doing like 30 mph in front of your house. Just make sure no ones driving too close behind you. :)

Coaster Brake Garage
That should do it all right. It saw some wood rasp action this morning.

Brown grips are winning. The pirate parrot [emoji3079] is part of the theme, LaidBack. I’m a Jimmy Buffet and Laid-Back Clothing Co. fan. Parrot is staying...got to have a little humor in life. I did center him up in bars.
Thanks for watching.

Well back at this drizzling morning. Had planned to go ride but I don’t do rain well.
So got the seat padding off and scraped off the major chunks off some kind of glue. Then I wire brushed and sanded the top pan.

Also had a thought about the rack reflectors and changed out the three red ones for a directional look. Port and Starboard if I remember correctly, with a neutral yellow.

Based on eBay prices the three reflectors are worth more than I paid for the whole bike.

The front fender braces were apparently meant for use with 26” wheels as they provided a rub with the 28” wheels. I had cut the brace down the middle which allowed the fender to flex. I cut the center section out of an old heavy duty USA brace and fit it to the inside of the fender. With this brace and a couple extra nuts I was able stabilize the fender. Maybe a bit crude but it works. Hopefully it all stays in place.

Huh. Here's an interesting take on how port and starboard got their designations.
PORT AND STARBOARD LIGHTS - ...
port (left) red, so starboard (right) green). The phrase is a reminder in two basic ways: Side: When on deck and facing the front of the ship, the "port" side is always to the left, just as after dinner port wine is always traditionally passed around the table to the left.."

Ships ahoy!

Tank installed, brown grips in place. Remounted the front tire with a correct size tube.

Took a few dents out of the chain guard and started the patina paint process over the rusty chrome.

I like the laid-back clothing line as well. Here's the shirt I am going to wear today.View attachment 97348
Have shirt with the same art but has “Crested Butte, CO” wording on it. Small world.

Out for a 12.91 bike path ride this morning on a modern Giant Via bike.

I tore down the saddle today. I gave the undercarriage parts a dish soap detergent bath and brush down. It appears to have the remnants of original paint. The various parts do have rust and paint.
My first thought is to repaint all the parts. Although I didn’t mess with the frame and fork paint so I’m inclined to just put the parts back together. Any thoughts?
The pan is a two piece affair. I will either paint the top pan and leave it exposed or add a brown vinyl cover layer with no padding.

New homemade jeweled end grips. I had some Electra hub shiners. I took the rounded back off the reflectors, added some washer spacers. With a patience, a bamboo skewer, and extended needle nose pliers I was able to get the ity bity nut to tighten up inside the grip. So now LaidBack TransWorld has a little bling to go with the patinafication.

+1 on the above ^ ! And add the leather / vinyl cover. Purse leather from your local second hand / consignment store; those purses are nice and soft.
