Got the tail light mounted tonight. Ordered some small green reflectors and will use one in place of the little red one above the light.

That front end shape with the pipes reminds me of a P40 Warhawk, I really like it!

For the pipes you could file/hack a bracket from the carrier, around the tail light to the pipes.
Or mount two P-clips on the rear rack's arms.
Do they get tailfins? [emoji106]
Thinking the tail pipes will be attached to the supports for the rack, some how.

Tail fins? On the rack? Hmmmm...

Can't wait to see the tail pipes! And your RaT-ina skills are really coming up, Handy! That PVC housing for the tail light turned out great. Isn't creating faux-tina fun?! :wink1: :wink1:

Thanks OJ. Having been a scale model railroader in a past life help with the general principles of fauxtina, or weathering as it's called in the model world.

The trick is to bring it up from 1/4"=1' to 1'= 1'

Found these Huffy medallions from a Nel Lusso I used to have. Might make some nice being on the ol' hot rod.
Also rooted through my stash of pedals. The ones on the left are original to the bike. Kinda leaning towards the pair on the right, unless I find something elsewhere.

My slotted head screws finally showed up today. They were supposed to have been here last Friday, but they spent a few days in some postal facility in New Jersey. Monday at 2 something AM they were in Raleigh (20 miles away). Did they make it the 20 miles? No. They got sent 2 hours in the opposite direction to Greensboro!!!
I think the slotted screws really add to the vintage look.

Thinking about maybe adding some of that carpet trim like I put on the tank along the sides of the rack. Make it more "streamlined." LOL
My little green reflectors also showed up today. Ordered them over the weekend. The little perf strap mounts for the front reflectors may get re-imagined in some more substantial material.

Loading up the goodies!

Things are opening up a bit here. Started back to the office this week, so having to get used to getting up at 5:30 am again slowed me down quite a bit. LOL

A little something I started tonight. It's a part of the build too.

Is it a battery tube?

This afternoon I grabbed my wood rasp and went to work on the globs of JB Weld on the headers. Kinda like a cheese grater on Bondo...

That is super cool...

Haven't looked at the forum lately on my computer, but I bet the Green Machine was deep in page 2.

Not much happening on the build lately. It's either raining or blistering hot out, or my sinuses are giving me fits.
Got the pedals I ordered in today, so I figured I would get out after work and "play" with my build-off bike.

They are German made, but still 1/2" and look the part for a ratty hot rod bike. Amazing how much easier these and other old school pedals I have are to spin than brand new pedals, even aftermarket ones.
Added some carpet strip bling to the rear rack. Not quite the same shape as those on the tank, but still sort of art deco and they bring the front and back together visually I think.
The last thing I did to the bike a couple of weeks ago was making more robust mounts for the green reflectors that flank the headlight. Thinking I will dig up some of my empty 357 Magnum brass to cover the back side of the reflector bolts. If I can find a couple of nickel plated ones that would be the nuts.
Mocked up the mount for the battery box tonight as well. I'll wait until final assembly to do the wiring.
Debating on flipping the bars. Not my favorite position, but may help with the hot rod look.

And last, but not least, a gratuitous grandson baby picture! :)

He's 3.5 months old now and just about doubled in size. My daughter-in-law says he's into 6 to 8 month size already. And having a hard time finding boys stuff in that size too. Grandma and Grandpa need to start searching the local thrift stores! Maybe I'll find some cool bike stuff too. LOL
