14MP sensor, in a compact camera means that the sensor size is very small and very close to the lens.
You get a LOT of DOF, just as you did in this canal picture. when it's in focus, it's pretty much ALL in focus.
my little pocket camera does the same. IMHO, this is not a bad thing for what you are trying to achieve.
Makes sense. Trying to limit the depth of field for portrait type shots I find difficult with these cameras.

Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (Breakfast Ride)

for once, it's not you, it's the camera. Bokeh is impossible with point and shoots.
I like my little camera, but it's not always the right tool for the job. I break out my DSLR and really screw it up! :D

Thanks.

My thermometer not the most accurate but I think it was 111 that day.

Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (Mom, Dad & Duck)

I sure like seeing your posts. Is that Hays KS? If so I think my Dad was one of the head engineers building the big grain elevator. I'm guessing mid 70's?
I'm jealous of your summer temps, if you can believe it. I don't think we've hit 90 yet this year. :(

Thanks for the cool posts.

Thanks. Most of these photos were taken in the Wichita area and Haysville. Not Hays though.
Pretty cool about your Dad though.

Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (Mom, Dad & Duck)

Great stuff as always :D It was good to catch up after all the build off work.

I think the duck looks genuinely concerned. :D

Is your Dad laughing?
You'll have to come back up here for some heat relief

Yes he's laughing. Either at the duck or his mishap. He was taking off from a stop in hi gear and hadn't got his balance and momentum going and ran in to a bollard and somehow cut his hand.

Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (Half Century Ride)

Happy Birthday. Great way to celebrate in my opinion. Hope the rest of the day was not too hot to enjoy it.
