Lunch Time Rides

Ian and I just returned from our ride. His Louvered Bike is even more awesome in person. I had hoped to bring my recently completed bike but I went for another ride last night and I need to make some more adjustments to the frame so it will accept the Thick Brick.

I didn't take very many photos. I think Ian can supplement mine and add a video too.

Ian and I just got back from another Lunch Time Ride!! only two pics. Ian had to go to the PO to ship a couple of things. Here are our two horses hitched up waiting for a ride.

Skip's Streamliner rides really nice, it's fast. And the way down there shifter shifts nice, has a good solid click. Good thing I rode the mtb in today, because I forgot that I said I'd ride with Skip today.

Another ride today!! 32 degrees F. I'm sweating!!! We stopped at a little bar we've been meaning to stop in, each had a Guinness for Strength. I took a couple of photos. enjoy!!

Rosie's is great. So taking the girlfriend there some night.

After a few lunchtime rides we think we have a nice one hour three pub tour laid out if anyone wants to join us. Quality Time on Broad St., Rosie's on Camp St, and Skip says there's another bar near Rosie's.

Another Lunch time Ride!!! It is sooo nice out. Broke a little sweat. We rode by the Pub we thought would be on our pub ride, but it didn't have any hours so we're uncertain if it will stay on the list. Found a old RR tunnel under I-691 to ride in. Also saw an architectural feature on a Russian Orthodox church we never saw before and a war monumant that was defaced so badly we could not tell what war it memorialized. :x At least it was happy to see us. :wink:

Very cool, searching for something else and found this thread. I was attempting to rig a video cam for a trail snippet using an Ultra-pod to strap my little Canon to my helmet and shoot the video but it kept pointing down on the slightest bump. Anyway had some stills from today, this is my Tue/Thur lunch ride at Calavera Lake in Carlsbad.

Start at this trailhead and pedal to the top of the old quarry in the background, you can loop alot of different trail together.

Should have been a video here but this shot is on the other side above the houses to the right in teh 1st shot, mtb rider in the top 3rd of shot. In the distance there is where the Carlsbad MX track used to be if there's anyone old enough to remember that from Wide World of Sports

We had an even better place called Flightline(in the flight line of McClellan Airport) literally across the street from work, Calavera connects to what's left of it it but I need to drive about 10 minutes to make it doable at lunch. Sadly most of the trails at Calavera will likely be rendered unusable as Carlsbad has taken this last piece of undevelopable land and declared alot of it "Ecological Preserve". Here's what they did to Fllightline using the same farce.

After - most of what they built sits empty as commercial real estate was already overbuilt 90% of trail system destroyed as well as the historic Carlsbad Motocross track and drag strip.

Ian and I went for a quick ride again today. I took some photos with my new crackberry. Lets see how they look.

This is inside the abandoned power plant for the factory building we work in

just a couple of nice old buildings with painted signs near the tracks
