Wow! My thread already dropped to page 2!
Actually it is pretty cool that less than a week in, we have a page two at all! :cool2:

So, you guys want an update?

Split the front 16" rim in half today and curled up a piece of 16 gauge for the filler panel, all ready for welding up:

It will come close to my hoped for 3" width, about 73mm:

Also, the rear tire is mounted to that 13x11.5 rim...

Does anyone have any idea what you are about to see?

Love this set up, looks very cool and has a slight crown to the tire, so should turn and lean half decently too, very happy! :nerd:

So far, so crazy awesome! Just get a white marker and add DADDY after the Hoosier on that rear tire!! I actually told a Hoosier rep. some years ago, that they should build a Hoosier Daddy and Hoosier Big Daddy tire for ProStreet cars......evidently my suggestion went nowhere.:bigboss:

When I saw that rule #1 said, "1: Rear tire larger than the front." I knew there was no way Luke was going to use some dainty bicycle tire! :giggle:

Was always a goodyear man myself.

Waiting for a junk OCC stingray to pop up for this build.

Really want to see this build BarnBikes, that would be awesome!

I guess the "Who's your Daddy" line is kinda creepy, maybe they don't want that association... ? I thought about it for the name of this build, but steered away for that reason...

I have a similar drag tire on a vintage craigar ss out in the garage waiting on a future build. Love it!
It would be awesome to see one on a cool vintage muscle wheel like that, would you go single sided rear to show it off? It is heaps more work and to be honest, I have yet to see or build a single sided set up yet that looks aesthetically pleasing... "Outlaw" looks pretty good so far though...

Today's progress was all about the front wheel and hand bending some 7/8"-22mm tube for frame canti bars...

So, from this:

21124220652_e58ddb9af0_z.jpg

I built this:

21163473511_2e94ee2a09_z.jpg

It's not perfect, but with some primer and paint on there, it will be!

The bent tube for the canti bars was just done by standing on it and slowly pulling it around, actually was really easy and came out nice, suits the curves on my build board perfectly:

No, I am not showing you my build board at this time, gotta try keep some secrets! :bandit:

Not sure yet how I will lace the front wheel, it came out nice and straight and still round, so the lace pattern will not be required to "true" the rim itself, so I should be able to get away with the cross lace set up if I decide to go that way... The rim itself is now really strong too, so I am confident that side of things will all work!

Now to tape it up inside and test a tire on it before I go any further, still not sure if a tiny 16x2" tire will stretch far enough to seat properly before deforming at the beads...

Luke,
I was thinking with the wheel and tire I have to do a single side, hopefully figure out how to install disk brakes.
Showing off that old craigar mag would be cool,be even cooler if I can stop it to show off.:39:

I have a few ideas, we should have a chat sometime if you like...

Luke.

Sounds good,I also have an idea for a reverse drive for another project I thought you might like.
Awesome!
I know , Luke is forcing me to do another big tire bike this year , I might have to put the VW idea on hold and do another fat tire , I have to hurry up time is ticking and I am falling behind
Whatever you build will be awesome Kemp, your stuff always is!

Luke.
