Does the spring from the shock you intend to fit have the same Id as the other? If it is stiffer you may get away with just swapping them.
It was close but shorter by about 3/4 of an inch. BB is low. but the bike is very BRO, slack like a modern mtb. I wll be off roading with it tomorrow. I can alter the linkage pretty easily if I need to bring up the rear end. New shock hold my weight just fine.Does the spring from the shock you intend to fit have the same Id as the other? That is neat! Looks like an Asian grey market brand like Itoh or some such. I love the early days of BMX because that was where all the interesting innovation and creativity was.I wish I had read your post sooner. I remember seeing a 24 inch mono shock on eBay a while back. I wanted to get it but the asking price was to high for me but I was smart enough to get some photos. I know it’s probably to late but here they are. It looks like the bike must have been a 22 inch and bolt on drop out converting it to a 24inch.

Sounds like my kind of party. Hold mypitch black, a drop off from very high and a coaster brake. what could go wrong?

That is one thing Paul has in abundance...style!I'd say that's worth some style points.
We have been doing that ride for over 12 years now, it is the oldest BMX ride in LA and the smallest because of its difficulty. I am the only frame builder/bike hacker in our group, but it is no big deal. You did an awesome job putting that bike together! Were you the only guy who brought their own custom-built bike to the event? I'd say that's worth some style points.
