During the last ORBO I wondered if a 1989 Schwinn Qualifier F1 could muscle bike.

Keep at it BFTD, You'll find your groove. I enjoyed watching the Prowler build.
Thanks Hamqqea. I'd like to think I'm getting better at this at least. Thanks! I still plan to finish it, once I knock out a couple other bikes first. I'm still tickled that your advice on the rear tire led me to finding one even you didn't know existed! It was super cool to see you get one for yourself to test and review!

I'd love to enter the MBBO again this year, but I need to finish some other bikes first. I've got a couple bikes I received from family members that I need to put back together after being in pieces for 2 years, and I've got a few previous projects that I need to redo/finish as well.

I know you have parts ............

You should jump in

We'll see if I have any time. We are about to start some major work on the top floor of our house.

This was a wonderful inspiration for other projects. It was at a time when I transitioned from road&TTs to small wheels.
The main criteria was it has to have an OG 2'' slick. The use of chainguards concealed the mechanics of the drivechain in motion to me. I've since change my stance on guards and old tires. It was also my first experience with 0 - negative trail steering which I tend to prefer over gobs of positive trail currently.

Greeny, which is a full-time drag bike today.

I thought this was supposed to be an inspirational thread?
I'll show you a couple bikes that inspired me.
THEN I'll show you the first bike I built here and maybe one more.

None of these are MY actual bikes, just bikes I had. The first one was my first bike a Ross Barracuda, basic single speed coaster about 1967-68 it was purple but the seat was not padded like this one. Then my Jr High bike about 1971 I got a Sears Spyder 500, dude I could smoke every kid around. It was a 24" 5 speed rocket and I was the fastest runner in my class. We were unbeatable until I ran into a couple HS guys on touring bikes but that's another story...

So the first bike I built here at RRB was Headbanger WITH A SCRIBBLED PREVEIW LOL

I got the bars from @CRASH but they weren't the bars from my childhood so I built my own bars and a bike to match

Dip painted and a matching baseball bat. Cyclodelic...

I think many folks have been inspired by motorcycles but I chose the movie and the style more than the bike, The Wild One.

This version got me through the MBBO 2 of 3 rules with apes and a fat back tire. It's a '53 Lincoln by Chicago Cycle a subsidiary of Schwinn that used up NOS parts. New in 1953 it still had a skip tooth drivetrain! So I kept it and laced a 3 speed coaster into a 20" rim and used a conversion cog with the og sprocket and chain.
But the apes were never going to stay...

It's way too small for me but perfect to hang from the ceiling in my music studio.
I also salvaged the shifter for The Thunderbolt Grease Slapper.

Before and before before...

Pretty cool isn't it? 1953 Balloon tire 20" someone tried to put a polo seat on but no sissy. Yeah it's a "Pig Bike".

Don't know if there will be a non-traditional subclass this year, but here is some fun I had in the 2016 MBBO with Poke Choppa

It's one open class for Muscle Bikes this year, KF. With the 3 pronged build off, trying to keep it tightened up a little bit. "Build cool bikes, and have fun!" .... somebody said that once.... :wink1:

Cyclodelic was one of my faves of yours GC !

This was a great idea for an 'inspirational' thread @CRASH ! I've always had fun during the MBBOs. Here are a couple that I built during those build offs. I was too old by the time the Sting Ray came around the first time, so this was like my 2nd childhood; or maybe my 3rd? It's hard to keep track. :21:

Restored my friend's original '68 Schwinn Sting Ray during one MBBO. He had converted it to BMX style during the era of that, and we got it back to it's 'roots'. Saved the stickers with blue tape during the spray over re-paint.

Barn find, literally sitting in a chicken coop, Sears Spyder. Turned into 6 speed, otherwise mostly all original parts cleaned, painted a raspberry / grape fade, and all the chrome got the Duplicolor Smoke Chrome treatment.

And my take on a woody wagon, using the 2 out of 3 rule; 'naner (polo) saddle and ape hanger bars.
Custom wood panel insert, rear rack, wood fenders, chain guard, and 'window' complete with surf stickers. One of my best riders!

Hamp, are the bottom two Sears bikes? I see 'free spirit' .
Yes those appear the same. Perhaps the bikes in my picture where repainted judging from Matti's pic. Bicentennial seats were added

actually not the same. The girls is a twin tube which is quite rare. The one in the ad is not.
