I personally would not recommend using a jack to spread out the chain stays. I used a Porta Power to spread the chainstays on a Schwinn frame that I had. It moved the dropouts enough that It was near impossible to get them to line up again, and yes I did use an old hub in an attempt to keep them straight. Just use the ball peen hammer, less chance of screwing up the frame.

Thanks for the offer but i am staying in Indiana, my girlfriend's family is from here and same for me, plus I'm stuck in a mortgage here. Seeing as you have a lot of Indiana friends you could move your pile up here....lol. There's a nice place right down the road with a huge garage that's on the market....

I'm attached to a church here that God has called me to. Looks like we're at a stalemate.

Yeah this summer I plan to get a cheap welder from Chinese freight or craigslist.

Sell a bike have some cash ready and put a wanted ad on CL, you can look all you want, but some of my best deals have been from wanted ads, got a nice 4 wheeler for $300 because I put an ad out on CL looking for parts for mine, the one I got "for part" for $300 was nicer than the one I needed parts for that cost almost twice as much.

Same on the welder, eventually a guy had exactly what I needed, a Lincoln gasless wirefeed, only had one roll of wire ran through it, still had manual and 2 welding masks. About $150.

I know that's true, i put an add on last summer and a guy dropped 6 bikes in my yard! one was a Walmart bike he'd gotten as a birthday gift with another one and he said he literally rode it one time and liked the other better. Still had the mold hairs on the tires and a generator and lights! I fixed it up and gave it to a guy who needed it to get to work. 2 others got parted, and the other 3 I don't remember  I've had a lot of bikes..... :D
