New Hawthorne??

I picked up this Hawthorne today. Pretty cool bike. It has a double top tube and single cantilever, nice front strut and red line two speed rear hub. I don't know much about Hawthornes, this is my first, so if anyone can give me any idea what the model or year etc. that would be great. (ID# G 35201) I can't find much info on the e-net about them, but did see one that looks like it called a rollfast?? The frame is chrome, but the rear rack seems like it was originally red but has been sanded down, so I'm not sure if it was originally chrome or not. Anyone with more info on this type bike I'd appreciate it. Thanks

The chainring looks like Murray, it's possible this is a Sears Flightliner rebranded as a Hawthorne.

Looks great, whatever it is... I am a sucker for chrome bikes

*Edit - now that I think about it, the FlightLiner has quad-tube construction for the top-tube and cantilever... So it must be something else.

Sweet bike! Judging by the dropouts, though, I'd say its a rollfast/hawthorne, like the bike says, and not a flightliner. Very cool though. The sprocket also looks a little different than a murray flightliner too. Similar, but more filled in. Nice find though. Excellent shape too.

love that bike!!! just picked up a hawthorne for my wife the otherday, by the looks of it an early 60's.
here is what i know:

1. it should look alot like a rollfast cuz hp snyder made both rollfast and bikes for montgomary wards, which were called hawthorne. don't know when in the 60's they stopped calling them hawthornes and badged them as montgomary wards, like the old ward starliner girls cruiser i used to have. i think cwc made frames for hawthorness too, but yours and mine are hp snyder. the chainring especially is a dead give away.

I believe CWC only made Hawthornes thru the mid 50's, most were mady by Snyder. Newer models were all Snyder as far as I know. Here's my 60s Rollfast, same frame.

yeah, cwc made them only for the early 50's. its just like how murray and huffy made jc higgins for sears untill 64' when sears used their own name.

The rear hub on your New Hawthorne looks suspiciously like a single speed red band, not a 2 speed with 3 red bands.
