Thanks guys! A little mis-interpretation on interpretation on my end, I'll explain:

two months before the poles open!

Alright, preparing for paint is next!
I am drilling a threaded hole in the bottom for a 'slide strip' of sorts. So I don't damage the frame too much when hitting the ground.

And I'll change the cranks to 152mm insteads of 175mm, or else the pedals are too close to the ground to ride comfortable.

Get yourself a magnesium skid plate for the bottom. That way when you scrape, you'll leave wicked sparks!

Great idea, I already searched for titanium on the online marketplace..... EXPENSIVE! But did not think about magnesium, much obliged sir!

And I happen to recall this forum likes sparks!

Very cool! Haven't found the material yet, but this is worth considering.

In my bmx days we all wanted kink fire starter pegs. They had magnesium in them so they threw sparks 😂
A firesteel is cheap and would work too I guess!
I can imagine a bmx falling on the tarmac and throwing sparks. Sweet.

Decided to paint the wrench black. I want to keep the bike a bit clean.

First layer done yesterday.

Finished painting this morning. I only put one layer on the front section, since I wil paint that creme/white.

Now it can properly dry so that I can tape the stripes this evening and paint tomorrow morning. This way I hope I don't pull any chips of paint with the tape.
I also have a cool idea for some details.

I did not sand the frame to bare metal, but roughened the original paint.
 
LOVE IT!!! Now that it is all one color, it really shows off the great lines of this build.

MonkeyWrench would be a cool name for this build too.

I had the same riff in my head :thumbsup:

Finished the paint and clearcoat. Taping and painting lines is quite a challenge.
One of my tapes, releases a little bit of glue residue on the surface. So I had to redo a few spots.

Completely painted and clearcoated. Decided to paint less white at the last moment. The black really looks the part!




I also managed to put grease in the tubes (Fluid film) and partially assemble the fork.

I have to figure something out here. I might have to fabricate or change the stem since the frame headtube is a fraction too long.

I can fabricate a bracket that utilizes the stems 'neck' as a support.

A seatpost clamp and another stem is 22.2mm, so those are options to work with.

How did you fix it back then?

I might have the following idea:

It needs to be strong and stiff enough. And bending a thick plate that comes from a higher place than the original spring-mount-plate requires quite an bending angle.

What if we utilize upper and lower parts of the fork that turn  with the fork?

@BartRidesEternal , that fork springer loop just needs to be kept from traveling up and down the steer tube / stem. Why not use a set collar on the stem neck to hold the bracket loop in place? Get the size that will slide on over the quill part, then slide the bracket loop on, then place in the head tube. The stem bolt will hold the stem where you want it, and the collar can hold the bracket down on to the top nut of the steer tube.

They are relatively inexpensive and well manufactured. You can get the closed style, or a two piece. They can also be shimmed easily with very thin tin, like a beer can for instance. :wink1:
