Nah, mine is weathered black with 'MX' on the rear, there's even a little dusting of white overspray from a previous owner. Told it was ratty.....:[emoji12]
Honestly, that red seat gives it a nice pop of color, ties in with rear fender detail and red rims, like the grips tie in the tank. There ain't no rule that the curtains and the rug have to match, right? [emoji16]

Thanks man, it's funny how things fall into place. Guess I'll have to get Chad to make another one of these steel boomerangs so that I can someday build my Afterburner X53254 muscle bike with a floating sissy bar coming out the mid tubes.

Thing about 'rat rods' that I like is the use/modification of what you have on hand to work with. I think the red seat works on this bike in that fashion. "It was the seat I had laying around in the shop, yeah, I know it doesn't match, but hey, it works and it's what I had..., kinda fancy, huh?"
You know what I'm saying Brian? Sometimes parts just come together and look 'right', not planned. Like a blind squirrel finding a nut.

I feel ya, Tank. I actually don't mind the red seat with gold grips at all. I'll still play around with possibilities of tying things together a little more, but I'm not too stressed about it. I really like the current flow. For similar reasons as you mentioned, I actually liked the ratty original longspring with the shiny bike. Like I said before, one thing that I learned from @Jake Sensi was when bike parts talk to you, you should listen (or stop drinking).

That seat doesn't look to bad on there, I think like on setback the seat post makes it work. From the proper angle it really does look like the seat is just floating there.

It's good that our wives come up with these ideas sometimes.

There is no doubt the 'nanner seat says 'rat rod bike' in nearly every application. It def puts your bike style in another category; completely diff look than your sprung cruiser saddles. That pic in the parking spot at night (too bad it isn't spot #11...) is awesome! The seat does look orange in every pic. The red grips could make it look more red (take away the yellow) if you can get the right match (spot on red almost the hardest color to match, so many...). Or, you could age the current glitter seat, tone down the color a bit. I used a 100% acrylic tube paint (Plaid - actually a light grey color) on a rag to tone down my brand new deep black 'nanner for Shelby Flyer Woody last fall. It worked well, and no, it doesn't come off on your pants...

No need for exact matches. I ended up using the brick red Schwinn grips I have.
There is an orangish tint to the red banana. It actually matches up well with the brick red grips. I guess it is a brick red glitter seat.

Fabbed the rear bracket from a busted harbor freight clamp

Started working on the head light.
Got the main parts where I could screw them together

I decided against the glass world globe for a lens because it was so heavy and I didn't see it lasting long with just epoxy holding it in place. I went with this flashlight lens.

Then I epoxied the front end of a flashlight into the old lens.

I tried to hide the area where the seat attaches to the seatpost at the rear, but this looked horrible once I put it on. I tried out my Mooneyes COOL sticker and it didn't help

I liked the sticker, so I moved it lower on the roof flashing aluminum and cut the outline of the lettering.
I like how this turned out. I had planned to make a "FOOL EQUIPPED" Mooneyes like sticker, but time ran out. I'm pleased with this.

This part was fun. Since this is SaltHammer for the Salt Flats, I bought some antique railroad dining car salt shaker caps. I took a couple and mounted them on the ends of the Gaskill Higgins racktank. Small detail, but I really like how they look.

NO!!! No one is allowed to suggest something else to be changed. I thought I was almost done and then the seat swap came out of left field.

It amazing how a few changes can really make it look like a total different stile . I really like both I thought the old saddle was a great fit . But then you put the old school banana on there and changed the grips wow . I'm so confused not sure what I would pick . The banana differently gives it a more customized unique look . Either way great bike . Very cool [emoji102]

Wow! Your bike looks really cool. I like the floating nanner! My wife likes the salt shaker caps and big headlight. Its got quite the stance and presence. Bare metal is always the best. So many doodads to ponder...
