I've had difficulty giving this one away. When I get full on bikes a lot of times I give them to people around me that I care about who would like to ride them.

Long stories short, right after i finished it, I gave it to my god-daughter... she rode it a few times ... It came back. I gave it to my best friends wife she rode it a few times and it came back broken.

So it has sat, neglected since about 2020. I built it based on mopar high impact colors. After it was built people would say, that's a Lakers bike, sell it to a fan.

So now, it's up for refinishing now. Paint is cracked and scratched. I want this to be one bad bike that I want to ride. So, I tore it down the other day.

I had one and picked up the front, so adding some old ACS Stoker wheels. Want some 12 or 10 inch apes on it, and make it into another ride that excites.

Plans are to keep it simple. Springer, apes, classic MB stem, maybe fenders, banana seat and cool mags with cool tires. 😎

I do have to warn this first month will be a challenge for time and resources. Will see how far I get.

Supposed todo this most of the day.

Will work on the getting the wheels rolling smooth today.

Anyone know which axle I should buy for a bendix 76 hub. Bit wore on the sprocket side. Will put it together without a new one but I should replace it. I'm hard on things and will break it if I don't.

Bearings on the front were dry and a bit rusty. May also need replacing as well. I know I have a bag of them somewhere...

These mags went together Friday just before this huge rainstorm. Will be waiting for days for the adjuster to show up.

The back mag weighs 5lbs-0.5oz, and the front is 3lbs-11.5oz. They cleaned up nicely. Will probably end up touching up the chips on the paint with flat black unless a better idea arises.

I wasn't sure, and still ain't sure what I am doing with the paint. (Said that for my 4th grade English teacher who would be all over the Ain't)

Anyhow. I rubbed some orange UV paint into the cracked paint.

Didn't show much orange in the sun.

But does show up well in the black light.

Not consistently cracked on the full frame, so I'm still kicking around ideas.

When I read "Stoke the fire", Metallica's "Jump in the fire" starts playing in my head.

Been many years since I've heard that track. Great to go back and hear it, and reminisce about my long haired head banger days. I remember i finally cut off my mullet in 1993 to get a job on a manufacturing line.

Me, about 1990. Was snowy out. Most of my hair was in my jacket.

Bro thats so cool!, Can look like a great paint job in the day but at night under lights thatll show up absolutely bonkers!!! awesome!
That was a lot of layers metallic base of acrylic with a clear coat in between then topped with clear engine paint. The sun iin the desert can be brutal.

A bit more of the frame. Cracks aren't even in the paint. But there is a lot of good texture in places.

I may put some in the airbrush and leave th tip loose to dot the other areas that arent cracked up.

Been so busy with life hands me these days.

My hands say no sanding.

I worked the cracks a bit more and took about 15 minutes today to apply color over top.

Clear red on top, clear purple from the bottom for an almost synergistic fade.

Still looking for the right apes, fenders and sprocket and guard. But can assemble part of it over the weekend if I have time.

Whacked in the cups with a rubber mallet. Cleaned and regreased the front bearings and bolted a fork on and put the wheels on it for the first little mockup.

Forget how small 20 inches are. First one I've built for a few years

That bent springer needs a shorter spring setup...

Those tires look wicked on there

Those tires look wicked on tflower.
Thanks. They fit these ACS mags like a glove. Had to empty the back tire to get the wheel on. I will probably black out the CST on them and just leave the operative part at some point soon.

I bought those tires .a few years ago for my old predator. My year of predator originally came with 20x1.75 on back and 20x2.25 on the front. These tires never fit the Redstone mags right and always had a hump while riding. Very few miles on them. Like 10.

This old Bratz, lowrider built frame needs some proper apes. These 1" will fit the bike better.

Broke the neck getting bars out for paint.
20230924_110831.jpg

picked out another similar color and painted over with purple.

Thinking these will fit in nicely with that bent springer fork...

Some black ops pedals off my pedal dragger. In case I hit a pedal when this is all done they are already smoothed down.

Flat black to have them one color for now.
