Man, that Falcon is hawt! How popular are 'Caminos and 'Ranchos? Everyone wants a cruk. So why is it that the awful SSR is the best we've seen here in decades?
With the popularity of Ute's in aus, I'm surprised the Caminos and Ranchos never really took off along side the sedan ranges.

if i was aussie, i'd be a ford guy. i didn't know what the heck that bad @$$ thing Max was driving was, but i knew it was about the coolest thing i'd ever seen with those huge gas tanks where the trunk lid was supposed to be. i still want an aussie falcon.

They have a business website...and a Facebook page. I don't have Facebook and the website is more geared at the movie car business (they used to import Falcons/Monaros/Chargers from Aus pretty regularly...the supply has dried up and the prices stratospheric now). They show up at the LeMay Marymount show as a group fairly regularly.

Mad Max Movie Cars

The price of Aussie classics is now crazy. I sold a very original low mileage first year Valiant charger about 10 years ago for the equivalent of approx USD $15000. The same car now would be $50000. It was a one owner when i got it with 53000 miles. The original owner is now 104 years old.

I also sold a special edition Town & Country Valiant ute about 2 years ago. After doing 2 Mustangs and a race car, I’m over the car bug that afflicted me since I was a young kid.

I imported this 65 Fastback from Los Angeles in 2004. Paint looks ok in the photo but is average (asi got it) but i love it as is and don’t stress if a bird uses it for target practice or a stone hits it. Every panel bar the Shelby style front valance is original to the car. I’ve rebuilt it from the ground up, painting it underneath in red oxide primer and it now sports a 331 stroker, 5 speed Tremec, posi diff, new Borgensen steering and some suspension mods. It no longer drives like a 56 year old car but it screams like a nascar of the era through its straight through exhaust.

Very tidy! Sweet powerplant. Too often with the muscle era mustangs, people feel the need to go big block. That thing is a race car, not just a drag car!

Thanks Matti. Most people are surprised to hear it only weighs about 1.3 tonne. Alloy heads, manifold, water pump, radiator, gearbox and wheels have contributed to reducing the weight 100kgs or so even though a 65 mustang was a relatively light car to begin with. With about 400hp on tap and a 5 speed with 3.55 gears, she moves along nicely.
