Update-
I made a bracket for the rear brake. I'm going with a BMx type rim brake. I ordered a rhynolite rim to use. The rim won't be here for a week or so but I used the wheel that's on there for mock up. I didn't really want the brake to be mounted off the seatstays for aesthetics but I think it will blend in and look fine one it's all painted.

I also extended the exhaust out further and inline with the tire

The exhaust is done.
I built a support bracket off the motor and welded it about halfway down the pipe. The pipe is really stiff now. I cleaned all the old paint off it. Resprayed it with engine block paint then wrapped it with header wrap.

I took advantage of the rainy weather by starting on the seat cover.
I'm using carpet padding for the cushion and a dark brown cotton duck canvas material for the cover. The thread is heavy duty nylon.
I started by pressing carriage bolts into the skate deck. I used gorilla glue to keep them there permanently. Then used 3m adhesive to glue 2 layers of the foam to the board. I added more to the rear of it, kinda where your butt bones have a lot of pressure, similar to a bicycle seat.

Then I cut my pieces a little bigger than they need to be to get a strong folded seam.
The stitching will be external, It will add a vintage look to the bike.
Pinned in place to start sewing the sides on

The cover is pretty much sewn

Lookin good
Thank you! It pretty comfortable too.
I took it for a quick ride around the neighbor hood. In the rain. Just to ride it since I've finished the exhaust and seat. It sounds way different with just 6" more pipe and wrap. I like it, it sounds smoother

Mostly discrete. Test ride came back with no complains or even really noticing it there. So I guess it's a success. This was the 2nd version..

As long as the end of the spring doesn't wind up bending up into the chain that should work fine.

I went for a ride tonight. It's still super fun to ride. Maybe too fun. I kinda enjoy riding more than my Honda... maybe..
Had to take a picture under the theater lights

I did happen to run out of gas, luckily not very far from a gas station. I filled up exactly 3/4 of a gallon[emoji106]

All the components of a wheel accumulated as well as a borrowed truing stand.
I got the heaviest gauge spokes and brass nips I could get through a bike shop.
I'm using the shimano hub I originally planned on using and a good ol rhynolite rim for strength and rim brake. I think having the raw aluminum in the sides of the wheel is going to kill the look of the bike. But I'll get over it..

And all laced and trued.

Nice way to spend a evening.
Wine, wheels and Family guy.

Yo all!!
Not a lot to report.
I pulled the motor apart to start the rebuild. Looks like the governor deal in the case came apart and took out the oil slinger. The piston, cylinder, connecting rod, and valves are toast.
My rebuild kit with a .020" overbore is on the way. I have the block and heads ready for the machine shop. I smoothed out some of the casing. And smoothed out the intake and exhaust ports.
I tore the rest of the bike apart to start clean up and final assembly.

I'm still on it, slowly. It's been kinda crazy at work.
I got the frame all cleaned up and finished welded. I added a nice little gusset where the two seat stays meet up front on the down tube.
The frame looked so good wire wheeled and shiny I almost considered clearing it as is.

I dropped the motor stuff off at the machine shop today at lunch. I'm excited to build that thing up.

Bare metal always looks good, but so does black glass.

The frame wet sanded with 400 grit.
It's all rattle can stuff for the frame. I'm using VHT engine enamel for the paint coat. I've used it a lot, it's a very durable paint. Looks good enough for frame and small pieces.
