I tried a different tire/wheel combo. I'm going to try some brick tires with black rims and see how I like them. I installed a half link chain and was surprised everything lined up. First time I have used one. On to the chainguard.

I like the brick red tires on there.
Half link chains are very cool. If you ever get a chance, try the KMC Kool Knight armored half link chain.

Looking good!

Those half link chains are awesome. I used one on my last build. Debating running one on this build.

Tires kinda growing on me. I got this one on the cheap just to see if I like it. I will try one of those kmc on another build.

Brick tires with black rims / spokes / hubs FTW! Nice complement to the raw frame / fenders and worn saddle.
Wasn't sure I would like them but I think they fit in.

Still digging out parts while i'm working on getting the rest of the house paint off. I've had this springer hanging around for about 3 years . If i remember correctly i had a heck of a time getting the bars into the bracket. As usual i've misplaced the acorn nuts that went on there. No big deal i just ordered some more.View attachment 264600
You gotta use that fork bud! I absolutely love the one on my LowCo Liner build from a couple years back

Took a bit to get it dialed in but I'm happy with it now. I had a bent bracket that was throwing me off.

I really like those brass acorn nuts on the fork, it plays off the frame brazing very nicely.
It’s details like that, attention to detail, that put some builds at a different level for me
I use those when I can get correct size. Always love to see bare brazing.

Big fan of the splash of color paired with the raw metal finish.
First bike I've used the brick and black together. Even got my granddaughters approval. She always wants everything shiny.

Back from second page again. I got the chainguard all mounted up after work today. I drilled the rivets out of the rear bracket which was to short and attached the donor bracket which fit well. The front bracket took a little tweeking to get me the clearence i needed. The crank arms clear well and the chain has enough room on the back side. Work tomorrow and the i will take back off and get some holes punched in it. First test ride thursday morning before the fourth celebration starts.

Nice fitment. Can't wait for the holes.

"First test ride thursday morning before the fourth celebration starts."

It's funny, with fourth in lower case, I read this in the same context of second breakfast. :D

Back to building again. I finished the chainguard and installed today. A little trimming and bending of the front bracket and the cranks and chain don't interfere. I started with a super cruiser guard. Stripped it of it's blue paint and soaked it in the oa bath. . I added three dimpled holes backed with stainless screen. I had room for a couple more but stopped to match the three dimpled holes in the tank. I'm pulling off the fenders this evening to chop off a few inches, then on to finishing details. I should be done with a little time to spare. I sprayed a little white paint on the raised stripe and rubbed it down with steel wool before it dried. Just a little accent.

Excellent work on the guard.
Just an idea, but have you thought about brass or copper mesh to provide just a little bit more contrast and tie in with the frame brazing?

I had copper mesh in my tank holes but switched it out. I may try it in the guard later and see how it looks.

I looked back at your tank with the mesh, and I agree that it looks better open. Also after looking at the copper mesh, I think your stainless mesh on the guard looks the best.
Another idea on the tank holes though. Have you thought about getting some PVC pipe to make tunnels out of the holes to the other side. You could paint the inside of the pipes silver

I like that open hole idea. I've seen a lot of hot rods and rat rods drill out the frame rails to save weight. They usually weld in round tubing to add strength to the frame. i was thinking about adding some led lights inside the tank. i may have to rethink this

Find some clear pipe and do both :D
