Re: ====~THE FAIRBANK FLYER~====

Finished off the lacquer on the fender today. Then went to work putting it on the bike.

Seat is on too. I think i'll keep it the way it is. I had planned on recovering it, but I like the way it looks. It's nicely aged already! I managed to clamp it into place straight on to the seat tube. It's on there real good and is super springy.

Thanks very much SchwinnRay! Yeah, I think the seat looks good. I even think the tan colour goes quite nice with the colour of the bike. Yep, wood has been purchased for the tanks, so stay tuned. :)

Yep, that seat looks pretty sweet on the bike. The color of the seat and the frame go well together also.

Great. Thanks! 8)

Another wooden tank.

With all the wooden tanks this year, I think there is a homicidal lumberjack bunny on the loose!

Ok, update on the tank and pictures from yesterday and todays cutting.

First off I made the template.

IMG_1376.jpg

Cut and check, cut and check. Goes in nice.

IMG_1377.jpg

Then used the template and cut the first one.

IMG_1382.jpg

Little check again to see if it goes in ok.

IMG_1380.jpg

Time to cut the others!

IMG_1383.jpg

I have gone for 6 wide. I think it looks just about right. I did try 7, but it was just too much and hit my legs either side.

I can tidy up any little extra bits when I sand down.
Then I took a little bit of the weight out of the middle planks. We'll it is a boardtrack bike, it needs to move fast right!

Clamping.

So, it's all together and drying at the moment. Should be able to tidy up and sand down some of the edges tomorrow.
