SASE= Self Addressed Stamped Envelope

I'm kind of a sticker nut. I love stickers/decals. I put them on my toolboxes, work benches, cars, trucks, trailers, roof racks, etc... I don't overdo it (well maybe). Anyway, I'm always a fan of getting free stickers.

Some product websites you can simply send them an e-mail, tell them you like their product and ask for free stickers and you will get some.

I sent such an e-mail to Kenda, and got back a response for a SASE, I sent it off and within a week had an envelope full of different sized Kenda decals. Had another couple stamps so on a whim I sent a SASE to Shimano with a post it note asking if they could send me back some decals. A week later I get my envelope back PACKED with decals, some solid, some die cut vinyl, different colors. Very cool.

I already got the catalog/sticker from Coker and Gary Fisher sent me some Trek and Gary Fisher decals.

Who else should I hit up?

Anyone here have decals they could drop in an envelope for me?

I'll get a photo of what I got in the SASEs, but they are in the room with my sleeping wife right now.

I want the Kenda ones  Email them again and just put my address  You can hit up this guy named Steve who owns a site called ratrodbikes.com  You should check it out sometime and ask him

Just shoot them an e-mail and they will give you a mailing address, I just figured I'd get Kenda because most the tires I find are made by Kenda just rebranded.

For those unfamiliar with SASE, here's how it works (older people are familiar).

Get 2 envelopes, put stamps on each one, address one to the company you are sending it to and address the other to yourself. Put the one addressed to yourself inside of the other and mail it off and wait.

I used legal sized envelopes, if you fold a tiny bit of the end onoe fits inside the other.

This seriously takes just a couple minutes and if you like stickers, it's worth it.

Cool, wonder if Schwinn would send you some decals. I used to do the same thing to get stickers for my cars...(Edelbrock, Holley, Hooker Headers, Comp Cams, Hoosier, goodyear, exc)...they add horsepower.... And for a VW you need all the power you can get...

I've been at this gig for about 10 years, started with 4x4 product stickers. When I got my first car I was all anti-stickers, thought they looked tacky. I don't take myself as seriously anymore.

Stickers add horsepower, but they don't keep you on your wheels.

When you get new paint you need new stickers:

When we were kids, we used to send a post card to Air Force Military bases, saying "Please Send Pictures of Airplanes" and our mailing address, no envelope, no stamps. Of course, that was back when if you knew the name of the base and the city, it would get there. What's a Zip Code? Used to get back B&W 8x10 prints of warcraft. I wonder where they all went. I think I still have a 4x6 of a B36 bomber around here someplace. I always wondered what a place called Oxnard must look like. Eventually named one of my dogs Oxnard!

of course, we also send post cards to the Dallas Sportatorium saying "We want more Wrestling" -- Way before WWF. Eric Von Eric was the bad guy with "the claw" stomach hold on channel 11 on Sat. nite.

I'm old! :(

I used to do this back in the 80s with my Thrasher and Surfer magazines.

As a kid there was nothing as fun as checking that mailbox each day to see what would show up next.

I ended up with a pretty good amount of really awesome stickers back then, but they either got used up or lost.

Some of those decals are now fetching anywhere from $20 - $40 each on Ebay.

If I could only go back to 84...

Did you ever contact Hot rod Magazine :?: Those would be cool 8)

I use to have a good supply of automotive aftermarket stickers from vendors and friends. Into bikes, trying to steal up all the bike stickers now.

If you ever want to SASE them let me know  I'll trade ya something  I have a fair collection of decals myself 8)

I have a huge sticker addiction also.

I have done kenda so far...thats about it. I also emailed a TON of companies (they didnt ask for SASE) for stickers...never saw anything.

I buy most of mine on ebay.

I have a huge collection of Metal Gear solid stuff, Apple, Shepherd Fairy, And STP.

I'll see what I still have, I think my sticker folder is at church, lots of the decals have found homes, and I did a pretty extensive tool cart stickering.

If you ever go to a motorsport type of place that sells dirtbikes and quads, ask if they have a sticker and if they don't, they give you a whole pile of them for free  It works for me...maybe because I'm 13, who knows

I have a pretty standard format for asking. Tell them I own/use their product (add present/past/future) and love them. Would like to show my love by displaying a sticker/decal on my (insert: car, truck, bike, rack, toolbox, etc...) Keep it short and to the point, say thank you very much and end it with your name and full mailing address, don't leave it off, they won't write back for it.

You have to make it as easy as possible, that's why the SASE is so great, any company that would throw out some kid's (I'm 34) SASE would be a total jerk!

I had no instructions from Shimano that they would oblige with the SASE, just a post-it note on the inside asking for stickers and I got hooked up.

I tried that with Dr. pepper...without the SASE...

I got a boring reply.

Sorry Sir...We dont do this right now...

Standard answer, I just like to think they have to send back that form letter, but the same human who would have to do taht could easily find something to drop into an envelope that all they will have to do is seal it and put it in outgoing mail.
