I picked my Thunderjet up while trying to sell my quad. Guy had just the frame, fork, and chain guard...$25. I found some old fenders that were redish, sanded them down to get a cool patina look. Picked up the star ringed crank at an old abandon brick kiln in Redfield Iowa, freegan style.
I have since turned it into a kind of cafe' racer. Still a work in progree. Picked up a Jesse James chopper bike from a guy doing 80mph down the interstate after a bike race. Flashed him $20 and he sold me the whole bike, all I wanted was the triple crown fork. $45 total for the bike is all I really have into it, the rest has been found over the years. Our Salsa Rep offered me $500 for it last week....tough not to take that. Think I'll tell him $700 and he can have it, we need a sweet Honda generator for the camper
The rest of the Jesse James chopper went into the Bike-bot I built to be our door greeter at Rasmussen Bike Shop here in West Des Moines IA. I actually had two of them, the first I pulled off the curb for the fork also. It went to my Workmans Cycles trike that I was refurbing cause my Uncle picked up a new one.
