Found a couple skiptooth links in my cabinet. Need them to make the chain long enough, but neither of my chain tools fit.
So now I'm wondering how I got these links off the chain I used for setback??

Take your triangle park tool, and grind out the center tab. It will fit your skip links perfectly.

When I was young, I would have done that with a pin punch on a piece of wood with a hole in it. Now we all have chain tools...

Got the chain to the proper length, thanks @Jude Ephesus @BobbyStillz @us56456712 the modified chain tool worked great.

Also decided I'd rather make my own tank.
I have a bit of a scrap wood surplus, so I started cutting. Still a bit of woodwork to do, but when done I'll use some leftover glass cloth and resin from my camper and boat builds to make a shell.

Here is a tank I made last year. I took fast drying drywall mud and pored it into a homemade wood box. I used cooking spray for mold release. I made a drywall mud plug for the internal and squeezed carbon fiber/epoxy in between. Three layers. I used a Columbia winged tank I had to make the molds. I think I posted my process under “how to” using the Tips section.

Sanded about as far as I care to. Have to wax it, then glass and resin.
I made it a little wider than the bell that will be inside.

Yes. As a matter of fact, I do know it's a mess.

Not sure if I mentioned this before, but the wife and I retired last week. Now I know why retired people don't just fish all day.
All that stuff you were too busy to get done, you now get done.

Anyway, I took some time between yesterday and today to wax and glass my tank buck.
First pic is wax, second is first layer of glass. I'll do the second layer tomorrow.

One of the most challenging, and fun in kind of a hard way, was my fiberglass chain guard for Bel Airflow Shelby.
First time I'd ever really worked with it, and the learning curve is steep! I ended up incorporating some fast setting Bondo to smooth out the rough spots and fill in the gaps.

I've become pretty good with fiberglass, but I hate it.
Did end up knocking one half over and didn't notice the goober it picked up, but I can take care of that.

Layer 2. And out of resin. If it's not heavy enough, I'll either order more resin or just carve out the wood. Either way, should be a nifty tank.
